Just received this, not sure what to think, and I'm not sure I will keep it. It's sort of like a thin cardigan with a collar. Not really a button shirt as its knit and a bit thick as a shirt, I might keep it as a cardigan but it's then strange it has a collar. The wool is very nice, soft, fairly dense. What to do?

So first thing is, I love this company's products. I have a vest and multiple pairs of socks, all of which are well made and comfortable. The second thing is I'm one of those guys who lives in the limbo land between Large and Extra-large sizes. I'm 5'10", 175lbs, but recently dropped 35 lbs. It's hard to find comfortable clothes, and that can often be determined by variances in the manufacturing. Larges can often feel a bit tight, and XLs are often a little baggy. I prefer looser clothes, so that's not a big deal. It's also why I ordered an XL in this case. Here's the learning. With this company, XL means XL. Even when I weighed 210lbs, this shirt would have been roomy. The body and shoulders still fit pretty well, but the sleeves definitely no longer fit my frame. Too long. I'm happy to live with that because the quality is so good, and I tend toward a more casual look and feel anyway. The shirt is made from a material that I would describe as a sort of stretchy but tightly-woven knit cloth. Not clingy, but definitely stretchable. It's also heavier than you'd expect, despite being a midweight garment. Because it's just a little bigger, it's comfortable and doesn't bind. At 175lbs now, I'd still worry a bit that the large might be a little form fitting for my tastes too.Anyway, all of this is to say that the XL is definitely XL, so take that under advisement if you're on the cusp between that and Large. As stated, the quality is really, really good. Love this shirt, but check out their socks if you're of the mind to. My feet are always dry and comfortable, all seasons of the year. You can't beat merino wool for comfort, especially in the outdoors.

I read an article last week suggesting I prepare for cold weather by buying 100% woolen garments, and was surprised to discover I no longer own any wool garments at all. To fix that, I ordered this 100% Merino wool shirt from Minus33 for Vine review. On arrival, I was amazed at how smooth and soft its fabric is. No itching or roughness at all. The fabric is stretchy enough that it fit well, despite being a bit big for me. It is intended to be a three season fabric (for any season other than summer), but after wearing it a while I noticed it could be a bit warmer for our winter indoor temperature. To fix this, I went ahead and put the shirt through a machine wash and dry at the default normal settings, and as expected, it came out a bit smaller and warmer. Still no discomfort at all, even in the collar, where a previous brand of wool shirt used another fabric to avoid chafing. The shirt color is a deep black. Hidden on its care label is a spare button, in case one is ever needed. Although from a U.S. company, the shirt is labeled as made in China. For those unfamiliar with wool clothing, wool is much warmer when wet than cotton, and is much safer near fire than down or microfiber clothing.Unlike most shirts, this one comes with a one year warranty, extended to two years if you register your purchase with Minus33.Overall, highly recommended. So highly that I also immediately ordered Minus33's winter weight zippered hoody. Bring it on, winter!

This shirt is astonishing. That was my immediate reaction when it arrived at our door.Really, I thought I knew a lot about fabrics, but this merino wool is a unique experience. It doesn't have the itchy-scratchy feeling I expect from wool. Not even a hint of it. This fabric is smooth, soft, and I just want to keep touching it.Admittedly, the latter is a big plus in my husband's opinion. I'd ordered this shirt for him, and he's delighted with it, too. This shirt drapes beautifully. It works equally well as a button-up shirt and as an overshirt. As soon as my husband started wearing it, the craftmanship was obvious. Even over a simple tee-shirt and with khaki shorts, he looked like a cover model. (I'm not kidding and that's not hyperbole. It's almost like he was transformed by this shirt. Wow!)The black color is solid and it's a neutral black; not warm or cool. The weave is smooth and sleek, neither shiny nor matte. In other words, it's a very versatile shirt for a variety of settings. He could wear this for lounging around the house, or to a cool-weather garden party or gathering. It's equally suited to a concert or gallery opening, or even a hike along our favorite trails. After seeing the almost magical effect of this shirt (again: that's NOT hyperbole), we may never settle for lesser quality again.Five stars? Oh, I'd rate this shirt 500 stars if I could. It's not just a shirt; it's an investment in style and quality.
