Lets off a bad smell when running. Low quality, cheap material.

I'm hoping this heat gun will last longer than the ones I got from the local box store. Those burned up after about five hours of use. This one looks well-made, with a good-sized cord that should handle the wattage, and the coils appear to be well-insulated. I ran it for about three minutes, and the smoke set off the smoke alarm, so I had to turn it off. I'm guessing it was the new burning off. It blew out good hot air on low and really hot air on high. It comes with three different nozzles. As long as it holds up for several dozen hours of use, I'll be very happy with it. So far, it seems to be working great.

Do not buy this heat gun. You can find safer versions in stores for actually less money.Bottom line is this: I ran this for about 30 minutes and noticed the power cord get very warm and turn into an overcooked spaghetti noodle.Upon closer inspection, the power cord turns out to be 18 AWG wire. The MAXIMUM current load on that size of wire should be 10 amps. On the high setting, this draws 13.6 amps. That is 36% HIGHER than what is allowed for that size of wire. From that, I assume, if they cut corners on such a major component, then the rest of the product will likely be full of other dangerous and dodgy electrical shortcuts as well.Naturally, this imported Chinese heat gun has no electrical approvals anywhere. It continuously baffles me that dangerous electrical goods like this can be imported into Canada and sold to the public.Don't buy this.

This heat gun has two heat settings. It is quiet. There are three different nozzle attachments.

This seems cheaply made with no real manual. There were two pages of warnings and safety precautions, but nothing about how to use the thing effectively. Why would I need ear protection to use a heat gun exactly? At one point the user manual calls it an angle grinder. The switch feels very cheaply made and there are bits of jagged unsanded plastic around it. I fired it up and used it for a minute or two. By the end it smelled like burning plastic and had started smoking. Apparently a bit of smoke at first is possible, but this just kept pouring out smoke for a good 30 seconds or longer and I had to take it outside so that the alarms wouldn't go off. This was not a small amount of smoke. I am almost afraid to turn it back on and see if the smoking stops and don't think it should be used inside unless a person can burn that off outside first. My hands still smell of burned plastic after washing. The smoke could be normal, but the quality of the product makes me lean towards distrust in the manufacturer.Overall, I would never recommend buying something that has obviously cheap parts and such low amount of effort put into the product and manual, especially on something that could be this dangerous. We have a discount retailer full of power tools that have competitive pricing and I don't have to worry about burning my home down. And I have never received a product from there that felt so cheap or included a manual that called a product by the wrong name.
