I like these score pads. The design is simple ,not flashy, and it covers all the info you need to record for a standard game,. Now I just need to stop using Old English notation and move to Algebraic, like the rest on the world!

Recording your chess moves (and your opponent's) is necessary when playing tournaments, but is also a good habit to get into when not in tournaments. I believe that doing this little step will aid with learning chess, as one begins to study openings and the middle game, beyond the basic rules. There are two main things that I like about these chess scorebooks:1. The quality is good – The pages are coiled between durable cardboard covers2. Considering the good quality and 50 games per book (total =100 with this set), the price is very reasonable and I feel makes this a good value.Room for improvement would include adding a chess algebraic notation reference page, with examples, for just the 1st page. Doing that would then have the added benefit of allowing all of the chess moves for a single game - moves 1-100, and the little reference chess board picture for each game, to be visible on both pages at once without the need to flip over to the next page, to see moves 51-100. I like that the inside cover has room to write down the quick results of the first 25 games in the book, but I was little disappointed that there isn’t a chart to write down the results for the remaining 25 games on the inside of the back cover. This isn’t a big deal at all, but it would have been nice, and made sense.I like the size of these books, being about 8.3”x5.9”, and the fact that they are coiled. Those two features make it easy to keep the notebook next to the chess board during play, without taking up too much space, and it keeps the notebook flat, and opened. – It’s perfect in this regard.5 stars from me (4.5 if it were possible)

My son is in his school's chess club and recently went to his first tournament. When looking for a chess scorebook I wanted one that was spiral bound, so it could be opened and folded over to take up less space on the chess table. The spiral binding also allows the book to lay completely flat. Unlike the hardcover scorebooks that have a curve by the binding when open. Although the hardcover chess scorebooks look fancier and sturdier, they take up twice the amount of space on the table when opened.50 games per book is more than enough. When it's used up, move on to a new fresh one. No need to carry around a thick hardcover scorebook of blank sheets all the time. Just carry what you need. The cover is cardboard similar to pizza boxes but a bit thicker. Not the most durable, but it's fine for 50 games. Nice and lightweight. I also really like the off-white, ivory color of the interior pages. Not the typical stark white printer paper.
