I really like these acacia wood steps which you have the option to use independently as two separate steps, or else use the included hardware to adjoin the two into one wide step. I was happy to see that the steps are stable and sturdy whether used individually or adjoined. My husband got me these steps because I am incredibly short, while he isn't so most of the furniture in the house is too high, too big, too deep for me. For example, when I sit on the couch, I have to choose between having my feet on the floor OR having my back rest on the back of the couch NOT both.I've chosen to keep the steps separate so that I can keep one in the bedroom and one in the living room. As you can see from the second photo, my feet rest nicely on the "floor" (the stool) while seated all the way back on the couch!!! WOW!! (Happy girl here!) The other step is in the bedroom since we have a high, plush top mattress which was always a struggle for me to climb up on. With the step, it's no longer an issue.The steps came well packaged and wrapped in protective padding. The only bummer that is that there were several scratches and dings on the top surface of both steps when I received them. The shipping box was intact and the padding was suffucient, so I imagine that it was a quality control issue. It's nothing that can't be sanded and refinished (except for one gouge that's a little too deep for sanding to be an effective remedy) but I really didn't want to have to sand, stain and waterproof a brand new purchase. For that reason, I subtracted one star. Other than the (mostly minor) surface damage, I'm pretty happy with this purchase.

It's functional, but three of the lats were loose when I open the package. It's put together with staples.

This comes in two pieces and you assemble it with two screws. The first one I received had a chunk of wood missing that would eventually weaken the step. The seller sent an exchange, which arrived from the manufacturer broken. A third one was shipped, and that one also arrived broken. This seller provides excellent customer service and went out of their way to try and send a step in new condition. The problem is happening at the manufacturing level as the item arrives in an undamaged box. Quality control needs to be upgraded, and once the problem is fixed, I believe these steps will work great. But I had to recycle all three at the township recycling center, and there is a cost to the customer when recycling wood. The pictures are in order of the first, second, and third steps.
