I used all four of these latches in my new chicken coop build. The springs keep the pins in place and prevent the hens from accidentally opening one. The countersunk mounting holes allow for direct access, allowing me to drive screws in straight and flush with the plate. I was a bit disappointed that there weren’t receiver plates with these latches, but I found fence staples to be a good and simple substitute.

This review evaluates the “304 Stainless Steel Door/Gate Spring Latch Pin (4-Pack)” made by BANCHELLE.The product was shipped with no excessive or wasteful packaging. What is in the box: four (4) 304 stainless steel door/gate spring latch pins.First impressions: Beefy. Excellent quality. The gate latch pins are good quality 304 stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance. The pins are perfectly sized at ½” diameter making it strong enough to hold back a door without fear of bending under force. There were no sharp edges on either the body or the pin. The mechanism opens with a quarter-turn rotation in either direction and is held open by a retaining pin; closing is done in the reverse manner. The latch actuates smoothly and effortlessly with a perfect amount of spring pressure. This size of latch is perfect for a multitude of applications around your home or business. They are built to last and durable as any replacement that you will find in a big-box hardware store. The only thing I wish this product had would be to include the female latch plate component (like a stainless steel plate with a ½” hole).I am evaluating this product as part of the Amazon Vine program so I am limited to a 30-day window to submit a review. Only time will tell if this product has similar longevity and durability as other competitive products on the market. Therefore, I will monitor this product over the next 8-12 months of use and revise my review should problems arise.Cost-effectiveness and value: Overall I am very satisfied with the product, they are corrosion resistant, have a highly polished finish, and are built to last. At a current price of $44.99 or $11.25 each, I feel it is fair value for the functionality delivered and is comparable to those found at a big-box hardware store.In summary: the “304 Stainless Steel Door/Gate Spring Latch Pin (4-Pack)” made by BANCHELLE is good quality and durable. They have 101 uses and are corrosion-resistant. Put these on my shed doors to keep them from rattling around in the wind. These are made out of a very heavy gauge steel, have a 1/2" diameter pin that doesn't flex or bend under normal loads, and with a quarter turn locks into the retracted position to ease opening and closing the door.
