For the money it’s not too bad. However when I received it the 90 degree square had a chunk missing off of the machine straight surface. The metal is obviously not high quality so it is what it is.

Clear defects in the casting that weren't corrected when the edges of the square head were ground. The compass head has a section over the scale plate that wasn't even cleaned up when it was ground (see photos). The riveted scale plate on the compass head has a crack that runs right across it at around the 177 deg. mark. In other words, it is in two pieces! Using the 45 deg. portion of the square head as a measuring standard, the compass head reads between 46 and 47 degrees (see photo). That means that one of the pieces must be wrong, but which! I can't even accurately measure another piece from the same set! The 12 inch scale has some dark "blotches" on it that I though might be mold, but they didn't wipe off, so who knows? However, it is scaled in both British and Metric units. I'm going to return this one, and see if they can do a better job on a second try. I'll update this review when I get the next one.

Good Quality, comes in a nice case with both Metric and Imperial Scales on the 12" / 300mm Ruler.
