Seemed like a quality product out of the box. I hoped it would work for me. I fitted the shroud on my Makita 4in angle grinder. After fiddling with it for a couple minutes I finally got good grip. Unfortunately the shroud is too shallow to use a diamond cup. I tried the same combo on a Mastercraft grinder. Same problem. Would certainly work with a sanded disc.

Broke multiple times. Super cheaply made. Wasn’t able to use it even after every effort of a jimmy rigging and duct tape after broke. Would not buy again.

I bought this dust shroud with some skepticism. Reviews for this one and others that were similar are mixed. Fits some grinders and not others. I have a cheap Skil 4 1/2 inch from a big box. It fit the grinder almost perfectly when the mounting tabs were properly adjusted. The issue came with the grinder side arbor flange. Its diameter was slightly larger than the hole in the shroud. I roughly ground it to the larger diameter and then smoothed it with sandpaper wrapped around a large socket of the proper diameter. Once this was done, I could install the flange and the masonry grinding wheel. This wheel worked perfectly with brushes on the shroud so almost zero dust escaped when connected to the shop vac. (Just a precaution, the dust is so fine it may ruin the vac motor - it was hard on mine) I was impressed at how well the shroud worked. If you move the grinder in circular motions the brushes lay down so you can easily grind the concrete surface without much pressure. I was putting down a vinyl plank floating floor and the concrete had numerous "bumps". This shroud made the job almost dust free. Without the minor diameter mod, I would easily give this thing 5 stars. Even as it was, 4.5 might be better. For the 15 minutes of modification, I got hours of almost dust free grinding with this.

I had to tap and wiggle the shroud on to my Dewalt 4-1/2” grinder and added a piece of duct tape around it to extend 1/4” past the brush. Once I connected it and fired up my (5 gallon) shop vac, it sucked down onto the concrete as I grinded down about 25’ linear feet of a raised crack on my garage floor. Only dust was when I raised the grinder after I switched it off. Literally no dust while using it! This cheap little shroud is fantastic. I’ll buy another if needed before paying $40 for the one recommended for my grinder.

I use this with a diamond grinding wheel on concrete. I tried without a shroud and it was terrible with clouds of concrete dusting filling the room instead of going up the vacuum hose next to it. With with shroud there is significantly less dust but yes, you still need a good dust mask. The fit really depends on your angle grinder and mine required a couple of aluminum strips to make the grinder base bigger so that the shroud is tight. The next part is the hose connection and I needed to get an adapter to fit my shop-vac type vacuum. Even with the adapter I used some blue painter's tape to make a snug fit.Another useful feature is the detachable edge piece to allow you to get very tight to the wall. It is very tight but remember to push the edge piece DOWN to remove it. Rock it back a forth between the two dovetails to work it loose.
