I just use them for food storage containers in the fridge, but they work well. They are not Leake resistant

I am using these for making single portion freezer meals. I like the amount they hold. They hold plenty for a single portion of soup. If the soup is an appetizer than I think this could be 2 or 3 portions. I was hesitant because I felt like round containers would waste space in my square freezer. I am using an upright freezer so there is some truth to that - they do not store as easily as my rectangle containers. For a chest style, I would think it would matter even less.The containers are pretty standard to other black reusable containers I've tried. The material seems the same and the lids connect very similarly. I haven't really tested but I doubt these are 100% water tight. I make sure the contents are level in my freezer until frozen. The lids can be a little difficult to remove.But I like these more with soups and similar. They seem to heat up more uniformly in the microwave so there isn't as much stirring to get the center hot. Also I've had better luck with keeping them from boiling over. However I still have to be mindful - I have boiled soup over a couple of times already. Because they are deeper compared to the width, it's easier not to spill contents after I have everything hot. When I have soup in a rectangle container I always pour over into a bowl, but I eat out of these directly usually so it saves on cleanup. If I'm going to eat away from the table, these will fit into a bowl so I can still hold them without dirtying the bowl. I can just rinse the outer bowl usually.I haven't tried these for any rice dishes, but I think they'd work well for storing stir fry and similar bowl meals. My only failure was with a cream based soup, but it was because the soup texture changed after reheating from frozen - not any fault of the containers.
