One could debate the relative merits of soft and hard cases. I prefer soft cases because they usually offer more padding, and they conform more readily to a pack and whatever else is in it. Plus, because they snug around the camera, they consume less pack space.There's not much padding on the interior of this case, so if the case is dropped the camera inside will probably get a heck of a jolt, but the hard exterior will prevent any damage to the exterior of the camera.I like the repositionable velcro divider, which snugs the camera, minimizing any shaking around inside the hard shell that it might otherwise do. It also provides a spot behind it for cords, straps and/or extra batteries. Out in the field, I prefer not to carry cords, and I don't use straps, so this case is bigger than I would actually prefer.I didn't order it to fit one of the designated cameras, but I measured my Kodak bridge super-zoom camera carefully before ordering, and this case fits it exactly like the camera depicted on the Amazon page.I knew what I was ordering, and this case entirely met my expectations.

Quite a good color match for the AZ255 that the case was purchased to hold.The case is a shell type case so provides good protection.The zip is of good quality to open and close the case and with this and the case material I expect this to be durable for quite some time.The camera fits snugly in the body of the case, but there is travel when the case is closed vertically and it loses a star for this. Adding a small bit of Packing under or over the camera resolves this but I would have expected this not to have been needed.The velcro closing for the pocket in the lid is of good quality as is the provided color matching strap that is also provided.
