I have tried several gadgets to help sew a straight line, and this is the best so far. The magnet is super strong and stays in place. Some of the other ones I tried require sticking pieces to your machine or keeping the fabric under a metal slide which is difficult to do sometimes without pulling on the magnet and moving it.You do need to place it on metal, though, and since many machines have plastic covers the only metal area to hold this magnetic seam guide it the plate right under your stitching so keep that in mind. If you have a vintage style machine which is all metal you will surely have a wider variety of uses for these and could even use multiples at once if it is helpful. They do a great job of ensuring straight stitching for even the most novice user. The shape of them allows for many uses with different types of projects, which is more useful that your average rectangular ones. The price point for this three pack makes it a top choice for magnetic seam guides. You will be glad you purchased them even if you didn't think you needed them because it will make your job so much easier allowing you to enjoy your hobby even more.

I got these for my wife who does a lot of sewing machine work, knitting, crocheting and other arts and crafts. She wanted these sewing guides to help make seam stitches more consistent and straight. These work very well and she is very happy. The guides come with extremely strong magnets which will not move while sewing. Just set the seam width, line it up properly and away you go. Although you only use one at a time, the package comes with 3 guides, so she will be set for many years to come.

These three seam guides can give you the added ability to create straighter seams. The only drawback at present is that it's difficult to use for a 1/4 inch seam which is the norm in quilting. It's not a fault in the guide, rather the feet on a modern machine are usually designed to make their edge the quarter-inch mark. What I find these handy for are attaching bindings and top stitching. It helps to keep a consistent distance and make your sewing lines straight. You do need to have enough of a metal plate for these seam guides to attach via their magnets. Every sewing kit should include seam guides to make life a bit easier when sewing.

3 piece guiding magnets for sewing is definitely a plus! I've been teaching my niece how to sew and that 5/8ths seam allowance has been a source of frustration for her. However, having these seam guides provide her with an immovable border to slide her fabric past. It's helped her to make straight lines while stitching and given her a sense of pride in her work. It's super easy to use and small enough not to take up too much space in your sewing area.

Love these. Strong magnet ensures that these don't move and you get a clean seam/hem.
