This chip is very useful if you want a basic map for many lakes in Canada. I fish a lake in Ontario that is pretty big but only has one camp on it so its unlikely to ever be mapped digitally. This chip has the equivalent of the paper map loaded and that is a huge assist for boat navigation and location. It works in either Lowrance or HumminBird. There is a different version for Garmin. I use it in a HumminBird Helix. I started AutoChart mapping the spots I tend to fish and the HB depthfinders overlay the AutoChart map on top of the Navionics. This makes it a total solution.

You need this if you want to build your own lake maps. I have one in each Helix and basicly sync them as I build my maps. Seems to have endless space, only which i could use my own sdcards.

Chip works great and makes it easy to map a lake.

This is a great mapping tool. I’ve mapped the entire length and width of my remote lake (10 miles x 2 miles) and have solved numerous bottom topography mysteries. Installation on my Helix 3 was fairly easy but the micro SD card could easily have been lost, it’s small and difficult to manipulate with fat fingers. I’m disappointed with the shoreline accuracy, it’s very pixelated. I had a Navionics base map which has far more detail but I can’t keep that shoreline because it needs the same SD slot. Still can’t get fish to bite however, which is clearly operator error.
