Welcome to camping and hiking like a king!! After seeing pretty much every Scoutmaster and Boy Scout on a 3-day hike last year using a Jetboil I knew I had to have one, and boy am I glad I did!! Whether your heating up a meal, or more importantly (to me anyway) heating up water for a hot cup of coffee, you just can't go wrong with this fantastic piece of gear. I only wish I had a Jetboil while I was in the Marine Corps, it sure would've made deployments and exercises much more enjoyable. The Jetboil is incredibly compact, all of its components, including the fuel canister, store inside the cup itself. This is key when space and weight are such an important issue when backpacking. It weighs so little, but it's worth it's weight in gold. I took this on a 5 day hike using it for at least two meals a day and at least one cup of coffee each morning and each night around the campfire and did it all with a single 3.5 oz canister of fuel with fuel to spare. It is durable, compact, works like a charm, and should be in every hiker, camper or survivalists list of must-have gear. Like the old commercials used to say, "Don't leave home without it".

Pretty close to ideal for this tech. Stores its own fuel canister, boils two cups of water in about 5 minutes. Setup is a few moments, stowage about the same. The color temperature strip is handy; when it turns dull orange, the water is boiling. Watch out when you remove the rubber lid - the rising steam could bite you. The piezo igniter button and the twist fuel valve worked fine. Poured the boiling water into a bag of dehydrated eggs and bacon, which was slightly better than starving.
