I have always worn boots, but I live in the desert and I wanted to find something better suited for (early morning) summer hikes. I have AA wide feet, and my heels always lift in shoes, no matter what I try to keep them in place. I have been looking for a non-waterproof pair of hiking shoes for a while now, but none of them have worked. Similar problems (plus others) with trail runners. La Sportiva suggested I try these, and I'm glad I did. I would describe them as somewhere between trail runners and hiking shoes. The sole is very supportive, I have never felt worried that my ankles will roll. The sole is not as stiff as hiking shoes, but it is more so than most trail runners I tried. I get better ground feel in these than in my boots, so that actually makes it easier to stabilize and balance. I have taken them out on a few sandy and rocky, steep hikes, and the traction is amazing. I haven't slipped once! The best part: my heels do not lift at all, even with my insoles added! The only downer is I wear a size 10.5 US (women's), so I went with a 44 in these. When my feet swell during hikes, the shoes are still okay (with medium hiking socks), but I couldn't go any smaller in these. La Sportiva- please make larger (longer) sizes for women in all of your products! I've seen a few ladies make the same request in their reviews, and even some men with feet that are too narrow for the men's version. Overall, this is a really great option in a non waterproof hiking/trail running shoe for narrow-footed ladies.

These came highly recommended but I was totally disappointed in them. I wear a size 6.5 so I ordered the size 7. When it arrived I could not get my foot into the shoe so I returned it and got the size 7.5-8. My toes were right up against the end of the shoe and they fit snug (too snug) so I had to return that pair as well.

Didn't need to break in the shoes. First time using it to go for 7 miles trail run and it was comfortable. The shoes are sturdy and my feet are well protected. Did a lot of running downhill and no slippery at all.

I got these for travel, walking and maybe some light hiking. They are extremely comfortable and fit perfectly. Great looking too because they don't scream sneaker. I will buy more of this brand.

Great traction with precise fit and support. As good as a medium weight trail runner gets. Great technology and look.
