Keeps the tone, and they are not that hard to assemble. Just watch the video :) I was using cheaper cables before, and when I made the switch to these it completely changed my tone in the best way.

I bought this kit to build a pedalboard and have custom length cables and it worked really well. Once you get the hang of it, cutting and assembling cables is a breeze. I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

I just recently purchased and added these to my pedal board. The set up wasn't that bad at all. People said you need experience, but you don't! Although I highly recommend you watch the tutroial on Youtube. The instructions that come with the cables are not helpful enough. The first cable I did took a little extra time, and I ended up having to recycle it for a different spot in my chain because when I cut it to length I did not take into account the amount of extra cable I would need because cuting back the wire and plugging it into the plug. But the good news was that I did recycle the cable and it just added a little extra work on my end. Also, in order to not re-wire my whole board and end up with a bad wire somewhere, I made sure I tested each cable using an old korg tuner. The whole process probably took me about an hour and a half to two hours, but I also reorganized my board which added time as well.As far as sound quality... Wow! Major difference. All my old patch cables were cheap ones that i picked up at guitar center in 3 packs and such. I had read about the cables cleaning up tone, but I was shocked on just how big of a difference it made. The overall tone was clearer and more trebley and the volume pushed through better as well. I had to bring my amp volume down and turn down the treble quite a bit so that it wasn't too harsh. That's meant to be a good thing because I really had to push the treble before. It made such a difference that our worship pastor even told me he thought things sounded way clearer at practice. So I'm 100% satisfied and will definitely use them again if I need to add any additional pedals to my board in the future. And I still have wire left over so i will only need to purchase a few plugs inthe future too. Again, although I don't think any experience is required, I do highly recommend you find their video and watch it and watch it again as you work. After about 2-3 cabels you end up getting the hang of it and it moves pretty smoothly from there.

These patch cable have done an amazing job at decluttering my pedal board. The small heads make less spacing necessary between pedals, and the cut-to-fit cables reduce the "spaghetti" effect. No noticeable tone loss. Installation was a bit clumsy and no signal was heard at first, so I had to test + fix all five patch cables one by one - four had been assembled un-perfectly. OK, I'll blame it on my two left hands. However after a bit of a fuss, it is all in working order. I just wished there would be 6 or even 8-pair options. The cable are a bit pricey and I didn't want to buy two sets.Small note: thanks to the shipper. Since no black cable was available immediately they offered me the white one with a free guitar strap thrown in. I went for the red cable (kind of cool), and still received the (extra long) Seymour Duncan canvas strap.
