Reconditioned brakes for my old mountain bike with cantilever/v-pull cable type rim brakes. Cuts cleanly, the end caps are great to keep from getting jabbed by sharp cable ends. Squeezing the caps in place requires a bit of touch so try again if you don’t get it quite right. Plenty of wire caps to pull a mangled one off and make it right. Good value and did exactly what I needed it to do. Cable quality seems to be excellent.

I like the price of these parts - the 73PCS Stainless Steel Bike Cable Cutter Wire Cable Cutters, wire, brake cable, etc. They appear to be fine, I used the cutter today, and it worked great to easily cut a shifter cable clean. Then I put on a black end cap by squeezing it w/ some pliers. - I had to squeeze hard. I need to look into if they make a tool specifically to do that, as it's hard to do with many pliers. It's nice to have all these expendable parts, for my future upgrades and unplanned repairs. Had (before this purchase), I simply had 1 more tiny cable end, to keep my shift cable from fraying and poking me, my plan would've gone fine. But I didn't, and to add a derailleur brace, I had to cut my existing cable, and when I went to add a cable end, it didn't hold, and I didn't have another, and then the cable was too short. And then, once getting this parts kit, I had to take apart the shifter to extract the short cable and install the new cable. When I split the shifter, the inside parts gradually exploded, with the 2 halves, the red indicator needle, a big strong spring, and some other wire going to the floor. I worked on these greasy parts for a couple hours, and could only get it about 90% back together - a real puzzle. So, I now had to spend another $20 for a new shifter, which came w/ a cable already installed, (Thanks God - as the parts are small and refuse to stay in place once you get it apart). Learn from my mistake, and buy another whole shifter, if you have just 1 bad cable. But again, now I have this kit to better complete my home bicycle repairs.

Well, I bought this to fix the brakes on my step son’s bike. The kit had everything I needed, I am very pleased. I was able to run new cables, cut, and cap them with ease. As I was doing this little project, I take appreciation of the tool, and they are heavier and more solid than I was expecting, and operated easily, cut the brake lines easily. Over all, I’m pleased.Well, fast forward a few days, and my 18 year old daughter, forced a ring onto her finger, and now it’s stuck. Her finger was turning colors, her mom was trying the thread trick, but we were not making ground. I remembered this tool, and thought it was a chance…and it snipped that small ring easily and didn’t harm my daughters finger, it’s a handy tool to have around, apparently, and the only thing that got hurt that day, was my daughter’s feelings.

Between my Wife, Son and Me, we have around 10 or so ridable bikes. More parts than we can count. But maintenance takes a lot of time, and keeping older bikes in top running shape needs replacement parts, right? So, this was the perfect deal for us. A crimper, wire end caps and the cables all in one order? GREAT!As far as the performance, the crimpers work exactly as they should. We also bought a few cable shields too. Now my Wife's 20 year old MTB shifts and brakes SMOOTH!
