This is a two-pack of USB C power meters. They are handy for showing power when charging a device. In particular, I have a tablet that charges slowly on certain wall chargers and quickly on a large block charger with multiple outlets. One of these in-line USB C adapters let me see it was taking power at 9 V and 2 A from the big block power station. The effective 18 watts is much more than a small, generic charger rated for 5 V and 2 A (~10 W) can provide.I also learned simple chargers have fairly steady output voltage and current. Case in point, one of my chargers connected to my phone had output around 4.5 V while current varied from 1.8-2.2 A: the power was roughly 9-10 W most of the time. A more sophisticated charger ran voltage from 7-9 V and current from 1.2-2.5 A, constantly varying the power from 12-20 W. Advanced chargers for cars and NiMH AA batteries do that to keep cell chemistry healthy so seeing it happen for a phone was an eye-opener.Information and measurements are always useful when investigating how devices works. The utility of these power meters that can be moved around and used with any USB C cable makes them valuable tools.

These are convenient inline power meters with right angle, good for managing cables and making sure you're getting the juice out of your charger or battery pack that you expect. At $6 for two (apparently deeply discounted at the moment), it's an absurdly good price, and even at the usual $14 price it's not too bad. Will have to see how they hold up to some upcoming cable testing, but I'm happy so far.

Worked, shows voltage current and wattage. Broke after ten minutes of charging my headphones, the weight of the cord resting on the table next to it was too much for the connector.Spend a little more to get something quality

These are fairly decent USB-C/C female/straight to male/y90° adapters (extenders) with an atypical transparent ABS/plastic shell and digital LED display/meter that appear to be reasonably well made without any visible defect and work as expected without issues. They're rated for USB4 Gen 3x2 and claim to support for 8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz (4K@120Hz tested) along with a data rate of 40 Gbps (20 Gbps tested) and charging wattage of 140W (140W tested). My primary use case for these is to provide power and/or data transfer so that's what the majority of tests will be focused on. However, I have to say that one of the primary reasons for the order is in fact the digital LED display/power meter and indeed they to work as expected with respect to that particular feature although its accuracy does leave a bit more to be desired.≡ Physical buildThe physical build quality seems fairly decent; however, these are amongst some of few that I've come across and reviewed (hundreds) that have a transparent ABS/plastic shell and while they do look interesting at first glance, I'd still prefer an aluminum alloy shell for these for durability reasons, amongst others. The vast majority of these USB-C/C adapters have either an aluminum alloy shell (most common), zinc alloy shell, or some other type of plastic but they are never transparent and they often do NOT have any LED, but these a digital display that shows the voltage, current, and power consumed by the device, which I do appreciate and indeed that's one of the reasons for the ordered as aforementioned. They don't look particularly sturdy although they don't look and feel cheap either. They will most likely be able to survive accidental drops from significant height since they are rather lightweight themselves; however, they don't unibody design similar to most others with a metallic shell so repeated bumping or jingling against each other or other metal objects probably won't be a good idea.≡ Video/data transferNote that these are USB4 Gen 3x2 rated adapters compatible with TB 3/4 to carry data at high speed (40 Gbps) and in particular, video signals. I don't have an 8K monitor to test but they do work just fine without issues as claimed with 4K@120Hz for a 27" MSI monitor. Note that 40 Gbps is NOT (at least not without compressions) sufficient to support 8K@60Hz standard video since 49.65 Gbps is required. UHBR 10 is capable of 38.69 Gbps so it can fully support 8K@30Hz standard video (24.48 Gbps) or 8K@30Hz HDR video (30.60 Gbps) without issues; however, 8K@60Hz standard video (49.65 Gbps) requires DSC or 4:2:2 chroma subsampling and 8K@60Hz HDR video (62.06 Gbps) requires DSC or 4:2:0 to work. With respect to data transfer, they're capable of at least 2049.43 MB/s (16.39544 Gbps) during tests which is reasonably decent although they're about 35-45 MB/s less than many others with similar spec (i.e. their aluminum or zinc alloy alternatives) although none of them are capable of measuring the voltage and power etc. The tests were performed with 20 Gbps M.2 NVMe enclosures.≡ Quick chargingThey support quick charging via PD3.1 as well as all other typical quick charging protocols including the most common ones such as QC 2.0/3.0 or even AFC and FCP/SCP. They support and are indeed capable of 140W via PD3 (pic 3) so that's fairly decent given the circumstances (its size and efficiency; see below).≡ Temperature @ heavy load/high powerThere is no drastic increase in temperature during high power/load at around 140W after 5min and that's certainly a point in their favor. Many of these adapters that I have come across and tested have their temperature measured at around 50-55°C (this is quite hot actually, see below) all the way to 75°C (and most of 'em do have metal shell though). With respect to power efficiency, these appear to be fairly well constructed with little power wasted thus have moderated temperature increase when running at full load of 140W (for around 10 min during tests) and the connector itself is NOT hot but it's warm to the touch, which isn't too bad. If they're really as 'cool' as they've demonstrated to be then these are excellent adapters as far as circuit design and energy dissipation are concerned. As a side note, while 55°C might not sound much, consider this; the hot water that comes out the tap from most residential boilers is around 50°C-55°C. I've come across more than a dozen of these type adapters (90° angled of various orientation and dimensions) and I've seen ones that were around 75°C that WOULD burn your hand as they did to me).I'm not certain if the temperature will continue to rise but my estimate is that if they're situated in a reasonably well ventilated area, they should be fine for the most part. They will probably overheat if they're used in an enclosed space at high power (wattage) for prolonged period of time so be warned.≡ Wasted/lost power (wattage reduction)Based on my tests, the wattage reduction is quite significant at around 6.5W max (per adapter) which is actually quite high for ordinary USB-C/C adapters but they are somewhat the norm and typical for those adapters or cable with a built-in power meter such as these. For reference, typical adapters made of aluminum alloy shell usually have 0.7-1.1W reduction at the lower end and around 2-3W at the highest. The less power is lost, the less heat is generated as a result which signifies an overall good/better electrical design and/or manufacturing process.≡ LED indicator/power meterOne of the selling points for these adapters is the digital LED display/power meter and indeed they are one of the primary reasons for the order. The LED display is reasonably bright and easy to read and I have no issues with them during the tests although their accuracy does leave a bit more to be desired especially at full load (i.e. 140W).The accuracy varies depending up on the load and the higher the load is, the less accurate it becomes. At the max load, it's off (lower) by about 6.5W which his somewhat significant although it's still only about 4.6% in the grand scheme of things and most people most likely won't even notice or care about it. However, just note that it shows a few watts less than the actual power consumed when it's over 60W.≡ ValueAll things considered, these are fairly decent USB-C/C female/straight to male/x90 adapters that appear to be well made, reasonably efficient, and for the most part work as expected without any issue. They support and retain all known/supported quick charging protocols, which is nice since some others with similar design (rated at 100W/240W) don't necessarily support 'em. The digital LED display/power meter also works well given the circumstance and they're undoubtedly useful and can certainly be helpful in a number of situations (i.e. to take the guesswork outta the equation). They're reasonably priced at $14 for what they provide and their overall build quality, features, usability, versatility, and performance.
