The only sandals that can last over a year with me

These are well worth the money! I’ve grown up in SoCal wearing Rainbows my whole life (daily & to the beach of course). But, convincing my husband to try them was another story. But, I got them for him for Father’s Day & they only took about 2 weeks to completely break in (he didn’t even wear them every day, so probably shorter period of time). He LOVES them! His absolute favorite go-to shoes! I’ve even heard him brag about them on occasion, which is soooo out of his character lol! So much so, that I ordered pairs for two of his friends...and they love them too! Very, very comfortable! They all recently went on a deep-sea fishing trip and the captain & crew were sporting Rainbows...the guys fit right in & felt “legit” and the other guys were left feeling less-than-cool. Guess who bought Rainbows after the trip? (I was cracking up when they told me) Guys...they’re too funny. Clearly, these are nice-looking but more importantly they’re “legit cool!” and the most comfortable shoes they’ve ever owned! Durable/long-lasting too. You won’t be disappointed

I had a pair of old sketchers sandals that I love, I really didn't want to accept the fact that they were getting worn out. They fit just right, they looked great, they were worn in for my feet and super comfortable. I heard a lot of great things about Rainbow sandals and so far they're all true...They're very well built, there's lots of sole on the sandal, the strap is not flimsy and there is plenty of arch support, but i can already tell they will wear in well for my feet.The one complaint i'd have is they may take some time to break in, the straps are a bit rough at first and may need to be softened up, probably just by wear. I've read some things that wearing them while they're wet helps break them in.

I am normally a size 13 and these fit me well with out much overhang either way. So several people commented about how these sandals take a while to break in. This is very true. It took me about 2-3 weeks before I was able to wear them for more than a few hours at a time. Now I can wear them daily and they are molding to my foot a little more every day. The hemp is quite nice, when wet it does not slip. Also the dark color does not show dirt easily. I am still breaking in the straps though because when they are wet they are a little more rough.To break these in, I wore them for about an hour or two for the first few days. I could hardly get my feet in them initially. However after pressing in the foam, and walking around on them a bit, they started to soften and stretch. After the first few days, I wore them for a bout 4 hours or so for a few days, then skipped a day or two. I did get a few tender spots under the straps and between my toes. This was cleared up by skipping a day or two and letting my skin toughen up (I haven't been wearing sandals in a while so this likely would have happened with any pair). By the second week I could wear them most the day but would take them off after I got home. Three weeks in and they feel great. I can stand on them for hours with out discomfort and they are not rubbing my skin the wrong way.So it took a while but it was worth it.

***UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE*** (08.18.2013): Ok folks, I may have been a bit harsh in my prior review (see below). Now that I've taken the time to break them in, I will proclaim my love for these guys. They are GREAT!!! They are well padded, without being squishy soft. They are stiff enough to provide support that most sandals don't have. They are no longer tight around the strap or scratchy around the toes. And I honestly have a tough time wearing anything else in my closet.Of note to those who have foot pain: I've been dealing with plantar fasciitis and heel spurs for quite some time, and usually summer is my worst season due to the sandals I refuse to give up. This is the first summer that I haven't had to deal with heel pain!! These are NOT soft and squishy like less-expensive Reefs or drug-store thongs. They are well padded, but not so much that you're going to sink into them. They have adequate arch support in the double layer variety. However, they work so well, because they are stiffer than any sandal I've ever seen. You simply cannot bend the sandal end-to-end like you can with other brands. This stiffness provides support, and takes some of the strain off of your foot, thereby keeping the fascia relaxed and irritant free. I WHOLE-HEARTEDLY RECOMMEND THESE, OR ANY DOUBLE-LAYER RAINBOWS, IF YOU'RE A FOOT PAIN SUFFERER.My last suggestion: If you get sweaty feet (me occasionally) or are in-and-out of the sandals frequently between episodes of barefooting it (guilty), I'd recommend getting one of the darker colors. At the time I placed my order, they didn't have my size in the brown, so I went with the white. Bad move. My feet pick up the color of the dirt and asphalt around my home, and have transferred it to the light colored sandals. Duh, I should have known better!! But just something to keep in mind when you place your order. And trust me, you'll want to place an order ASAP!!***Original Review***Ok, I usually wear a size 9 in mens shoes, so I ordered the sandals in medium. Unfortunately, the strap was so tight that I ended up sending them back and ordering a size Large. I knew going in (thanks to Amazon reviews) that the sandals had a rather long break-in period, so I wasn't expecting magic. However, I've worn the sandals pretty consistently now for 2 weeks, and the strap has yet to wear thoroughly. The piece that goes between your toes doesn't seem to want to fold over on itself and has definitely calloused the area between my first two toes. And the strap is still very tight, too.However, I should note that I have what some might say is a "tall" foot, courtesy of a very high arch. In past summers, I've had to deal with nasty plantar fasciitis due to poor sandal fit/quality. But so far, I haven't had to deal with any heal pain at all!! These guys have an arch support built in, but more importantly, they aren't completely flexible like most sandals. This means that the sole offers more support than other sandals (looking at you, Reef). So, here's to hoping that the strap finally breaks in properly and I can wear them forever and ever. I will update the review as time goes on. Cheers.
