I received this reel yesterday (2000). I loaded it up with some backing and filled it up with some 6lb test Nanofil. Then placed it on a 8 foot light action Crappie rod. The 2000 size reel balanced out the rod nicely. Then I took it to a lake this morning to see how well it preformed. To be honest when I took it out of the box I thought the handle was a little big for this reel but the reel was smooth and the bail spring was strong (this is very important because this it what fails most often on spinning reels). When I got to the lake I tied some 6 lb test mono to the end of the line (about 5 foot) and set it up with a slip bobber ( a bobber stop will not work on Nanofil). The Sunfish are about to spawn so they were biting one right after the other. The reel preformed flawlessly. I was able to turn the drag down so it would slip just slightly on a hard hook set, impressive. Once fishing I didn't notice the handle being a little different then I was used too.Tomorrow I will be taking the boat out so if things go as planned I can check it out on something bigger Walleye, Northern, or Bass. I will move this reel to a 7 foot med/light rod for that.I did order a 1000 size reel today that will be going on a ultra light rod to replace a USReel with a bad bail spring.
