You might not want to use a loose leaf brew even if you use a strainer if a lot of the loose leaf goes to the bottom of the jar since after a week it just clogged and I tried cleaning it out but it seems like it was stuck with very small particles.
I never give fake reviews.

Images tend to make things look larger, but this is a nice product. It looks smaller than a one gallon jar, but I still like it. Product was well packaged, came with the spigot and nut that were easy to add to the bottle. If you do not tighten the spigot well, it will leak. This is great for someone like me who is new to brewing. The mesh lid makes this look cleaner and easier to use, instead of having to use rubber bands, cloth, or coffee filters, but it is difficult to open so do not tighten. I hope this is something that can be improved on, but for now I will try some pipe tape to see if I can help with opening. It is small enough to make small batches. I tried the rack to see if it would fit where I have the bottle and it looks neat. You will not be sorry you ordered this. I really like it.One thing that is important is that you unscrew the top of the valve after each brew, as I discovered after watching a youtube video, that a scoby will form around the spigot, thereby either restricting the flow or spoiling your other brews.Other thing that would be nice, is if the manufacturers added a cap or a cover plate with no mesh in case you want to travel with it, or provide an option to purchase without the stand. I would like to order another, but I don't need the stand.

I would have liked this jar to seem more robust. The first thing I thought before opening the package was--surely this isn't the jar I was expecting--it's too light! I will definitely be using this, but I'm not sure I'll use it for my Kombucha brewing yet. I chose to order this because lifting gallon jars to dump my Kombucha into my flavor-mixing-and-bottling container isn't easy and I often spill a few teaspoons and worry about dropping. I'd been thinking it would be easier to empty from the bottom. However, the jars I'm currently using are much heavier-duty than this one. I won't have to worry about lifting, but I will have to worry about little bumps here and there that may cause a shattering accident.A couple more things to think about. Kombucha really needs a minimum of 74 degrees Fahrenheit to get going or you risk mold growth. I normally keep my brews on top of a seedling heat mat with precise temperature control. If your brew space isn't warm enough you'll have to consider how you're going to keep your brew happy and healthy. There are belts you could use if you plan to keep this on the stand at all times. Personally I will probably only use the stand when I am ready to bottle.Last thing I want to mention is that I don't think the mesh screen in the lid is enough protection for your brew. You really need cloth to keep small bugs out like gnats. Personally, I use the kind of cloth used for making face masks. It lets air through, but very little else. I've been brewing kombucha for well over a year (and am a veteran beer and wine brewer) and never had a single issue with insects or any other contaminants. With these 3 issues to think about I can't give a full five stars, which I reserve for a perfectly designed and implemented product. However, it's still an extremely nice setup with a few caveats so I give 4 stars.
