The best most powerful modern box fan I've ever seen! It's remarkable!

Rating summary (4.8 out of 5 stars) - It is very thoughtfully designed (with the consumer in mind). It has all of the standard features of regular box fans but has improved on all of them.Product Specifications:Weight:13.2 lbsDimensions:6 ft power cordWidth = 20 inchesHeight = 20 inchesDepth*= 6 inches *or about ~6.45 inches in two spots where two small feet stick out at the bottom/back of the fan which add a tiny bit less than 0.5 inches)Air Velocity and Noise Level at 10 ft away (for each speed setting):Speed 11.7m/s44 dBASpeed 22.1 m/s49 dBASpeed 33.1 m/s54dBASpeed 43.9 m/s64 dBASpeed 54.2 m/s67 dBAPictures for Reference:Picture 1 - product boxPicture 2 - what to expect when opening the boxPicture 3 - product box contentsPicture 4 - product manual (English) - section 1 related to the Vornado 80 box vanPicture 5 - product manual (English) - section 2 related to the Vornado 80 box vanPicture 6 - product manual (English) - section 3 related to the Vornado 80 box vanPicture 7 - product manual (English) - section 4 related to the Vornado 80 box van*pages for the 80X box fan are also in the same product manual…that is the reason for skipping some pages between picturesPositives:1 - Power - This thing moves air (very high air flow rate) and makes any other box fan seem like it’s a toy. My wind velocity measurements are at 10 feet away (if you are closer than that it is much higher)2 - Sturdy - This fan is rugged. It would require a lot of unfortunate or intentional accidents to break this 99% of parts of this fan.3 - Portability - it has a very strong handle built into the frame that is also flush with the frame of the fan so it won’t get bumped/broken off like some other box fans.4 - Weight - The weight of this fan and the frame’s dimensions + some rubber non-slip feet keep this thing very stable.5 - Noise Level - The ratio of noise level to air flow rate is better than many top rated old school box fans that I have ever owned (and still own)6 - Removable grille to aid in cleaning - This is a big win for any fan because they all pick up dust on the blades or inside their frame. It is also an added bonus that goes well with #7 below7 - 5 year warranty - Products just aren’t made to last long anymore so seeing that this has a 5 year warranty is quite refreshing.Neutral:1 - Power Cord length - it’s not short and is a reasonable length (6 feet).Opportunities (not big ones):1 - When you power on the fan it always starts with the highest setting which is fairly loud and may cause a bunch of random, lighter stuff in the area to blow away haha which can get a little annoying sometimes.2 - The controls (push buttons) are possibly the most fragile part of this product and I could see something snagging on the lip of the buttons and popping one off or something falling and maybe cracking one of them. *This isn’t likely to happen but I am a tiny bit surprised they went with this design.3 - The power on/off feature is a push button and not a switch so it can’t be easily utilized with standard smart home smart plugs (it still can with additional smart home devices though if needed)4 - No remote (not big but a lot of companies have added remotes to their larger fans)Things to consider when reading my review:1 - I compared this box fan against two different tier box fans I previously owned (for air flow and noise)2 - To test the product I used a:calibrated scale - weightProfessional Anemometer - air velocity at 10 ftProfessional decibel meter - noise level generated from the fan at 10 ftFinal thoughts and observations:You might be focused on the cost but it shouldn’t matter if you are purchasing it for what it is (it is well worth the cost). It is a high performance box fan that doesn’t have all of the ridiculous issues that old box fans have (old box fans sometimes tip over at higher settings, they sometimes aren’t even that strong, parts break, are even more loud, cleaning is a nightmare, and the motors don’t last all that long….etc). This Vornado box fan delivers and WILL last a long time (probably way more than 5 if you take decent care of it) + they have a 5 year warranty!Based on its dimensions it will be changing its use case every now and then for me. I have used it as a normal box fan and also used it to build a “corsi-rosenthal box” with standard 20 in. x 20 in. HVAC filters with efficiency of MERV13 or higher to use with this box fan as this will filter a ton of air with this fans power! Please let me know if you found anything I have shared helpful.

This fan is amazing. Not only does it blow A LOT of air, but it's able to keep that air moving for a LONG distance too. If I had to guess... the fan can blow 40-50ft at max setting before the wind diminishes into nothingness. I don't have any other fan that can do anything quite like this, and I'm guessing it's because of the unique design of the fan blades. When the fan is blowing in a smaller room, say 10x10ft more or less, this fan will circulate the whole room's air creating a constant breeze like experience. To be honest it's not as powerful as my commercial fan that I use in my garage, but of course this is a residential fan where I feel comfortable having it in the house where I have kids running around. This Vornado Model 80 fan is quite big, heavy-ish too. I have tower fans that are lighter and smaller than this fan despite it being a "tower fan". This fan is THICK too, and there are rubber feet at the bottom to help keep it stabilized and gripped to the ground. The color choice makes it look cool, the plastic feels good and sturdy. The handle is "handy" hehe. To remove the grill, there's a screw you can remove then rotate the front grill to remove it.I like how the back includes a spot where you can rotate the electric wire plug to more easily store it. I wish the plug had that little clip thing at the end of the outlet plug like my Dyson vacuum so that the wire doesn't dangle around after you're done wrapping it.The wish there was a way to tell which fan speed is currently selected. You have to mentally keep track or test it out to know. There's no display or sound output when you turn it on or press a button, for some people that's okay, but for me I like those tactile audible feedback. Not a deal breaker, but the user experience has a slight room for improvement.Overall this fan is AWESOME! This fan not only looks cool, but it'll keep you cool too. Pull out this hotty for your friends and family and it'll make you look cool too. In fact this fan is so cool, that even though it blows lots of air, "it doesn't blow it" and can get the job done. I'm a huge FAN of this Vornado, it's a fan that blows huge. If you're ever winded from the heat, catch a second-wind with this Vornado Model 80! ;D

Initial impression when I pulled it out of the box was that this isn’t like box fans that I remember. Very sleek looking. I love that the handle is not a strap sticking out across the top, but built into the shape of the fan. I plugged it in and turned it on to test out in the kids hallway, just expecting normal air and it started blowing all the lightweight toys down the hall. Reminded me of a leaf blower lol. The kids came running out, because it IS loud, and walked in front of it and decided to play tornado. So I ended up having to leave it on in the hallway for a bit. I left because of the racket, but I could feel the air blasting down the hall, across the living room, through the kitchen and down the other hall. It was crazy. On a separate day, I cooked fajitas and smoked up the house. Happens every time if I want to get a decent char when cooking meat inside. Anyway, I opened a couple windows and stuck this fan in one, facing out, and in a couple minutes, house was clear. This fan is definitely very handy to have on hand and has surpassed all my expectations.

Great velocity and power. Only complaint is when you turn it on again, it starts at FULL BLAST SPEED, so you sit there turning it down every time. Low power noise level is good, at high, its very loud but gives you much better power output than most other box fans.
