The item works to distribute the outflow. However, installation is tricky at best. The photo shows a cut-away of the downspout which isn't accurate. I definitely didn't want to cut out a piece of the downspout. Easier to remove the piece of downspout from the main line for installation then reconnect. Could never have done it outside. I installed the screws from the bottom. They did work with a lot of pressure shoving them into the metal. However, they're sticking up from the bottom. Probably not a problem since they're inside the downspout where no one should be going. Could have filed them down but I didn't. Hope the chipmunks see them sticking up. Even if they were installed from the top, they would stick down into the ground. Overall, an OK product but be aware that, depending upon the location and composition of your downspout, installation could be difficult. No idea about durability in heat and sunlight. Only have one downspout with a problem. Kept the second item for future use if necessary. Offhand, I'd say they were pricey. And, it barely fit inside the downspout. If this fails in the future, I'll look for alternative solutions.

This diverter works to spread out the stream of water during heavy rains and fits fine in my 2" x 3" downspout elbow. I think it would work a bit better though if they designed it to connect to the underside of the downspout instead of inside the downspout. This would allow the water to flow more smoothly out of the downspout and be more secure by being able to screw it in from the bottom more easily. Otherwise, it does work to help spread the water out.

This is a fantastic idea. However, the product should be rethought and reworked. The images of the product installed are computer generated. I have small hands and I couldn’t get the top screw installed inside the downspout, even with an offset screwdriver. If you install the diverter from the bottom it leaves a lip where water can get trapped and the screws stick up inside the downspout like spikes. If the top of the diverter was a bit larger and it clipped onto the downspout or was fixed with a waterproof adhesive tape it would work so much better.
