Horrible packing. Bulbs broken

I've always like the steampunk via industrial aesthetic. This light fits that solidly. My plan is to use it to top a staff for a fantasy costume I'm making (gnome engineer), and use some LEDs inside of the cage for illumination. I was originally going to make my own copper wire cage and frame, and then I came across this and decided that it's pretty much what I was going for.It is a full kit and even includes a nice bulb, for those of you who will actually use it as a light. The assembly and fit are straight forward and well thought out.I'm both surprised and pleased with how nice it looks. If feels solid and heavy, which can't be said for a lot of inexpensive light fixtures.

Before putting forth my own review on this product, I'd like to address one issue that I've read on other reviewer's comments about this type of fixture, regarding the off-center positioning of the light socket, once the long bulb is tightened into position. Indeed, my fixture did the same thing as others had mentioned but all it took for me, was to loosen the top-most nut that holds the ceramic power socket into position and then I held the bulb itself centered into the shade, while re-tightening the top nut and viola! The bulb held itself in the exact middle of the fixture. Anyhow, wiring this fixture in, is the same procedure as almost any light fixture, so I won't address that here since a child could do it. I do like the aesthetic of this little light fixture in our library, as it compliments the general aesthetic of that room. The welded metal construction of the outer shade/housing appears to be carefully welded and the steel rod used, looks appropriately sized. I wouldn't want the rod thickness any thinner or thicker, personally. The finish too, is well applied. Highly recommended.

My husband is decorating his office in a steampunk style, and this light fixture embodies that style perfectly. The kit includes everything needed, including a nice bulb, for those planning to use it as a light fixture. Assembly is straightforward and well thought out.I'm pleasantly surprised by how nice it looks and feels. It's solid and heavy, which is impressive for an inexpensive light fixture. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to add a touch of steampunk to their space!

The major positives here are that it is light weight and looks really cool. We took away one star because the advertising seemed to be a bit misleading on the use of plastic components and that is unfortunate.
