It's interesting to note that friends refer to this item by different names, so if you're new to them, they're little foam sponges or balls, on a stick. They are great for many kinds of paint applications and for application of other products, too.This is a geat set, because it has different sized sponges in it. The sponges hold more product than meets the eye, so when the tip looks clean, sometimes there's more product hiding inside. You can apply a little bit harder, and sometimes get quite a bit more out. (This is neither a good or bad thing, and most brands do the same).This are great to for cleaning in small spaces.

I just started using Japanese ink dyes for stenciling designs onto my quilting fabrics. At the quilt show where I bought these supplies, they sold sponge finger daubers that have a small black plastic handle. I now need more daubers and was so happy to find these. Though these have a different feel working with them, I find they work just as well. Great for small stencils and detail work!

These are foam brushes in small, smaller, and mini sizes. They are great for "pouncing" on stencils. Foam stays attached through a few projects. These are just what I expected.
