January 2019 update: The paint is holding up just fine and I use the plates 3x per week.Original Post: I ordered 2 sets. A couple of the 1 pound plates were off by a tenth of an ounce and all the rest were exactly the right weight. Will you notice an extra 1/10 of an ounce on one side of the bar and 1/10 of an ounce less on the other? Me either. I haven't used them so I don't know how well the paint will hold up but each plate is engraved and, since the plates all have the same diameter, it is easy to see which is which based on thickness. All plates easily fit on an olympic bar. If you're wanting fractional plates, these are a good quality option at a good price. Oh, and each set came in a small bag so if you're heading to the gym and throw the plates in your bag that won't wander all over your bag.

Great product. These types of plates are the key to overcoming plateaus with weight lifting. Most gyms don't have these. The lightest I see in US gyms are usually 2.5 lbs., which means your forced to go up by 5 lbs. when trying in increase your 1 rep max with barbell exercises, which I think is just too much for most people. These allow you to always move up incrementally at weights that can be as light as .5 lb. Sounds insignificant, but trust me, these are one of the secret keys to getting stronger faster. I've been lifting for about 5 years now and I just bought this set - I wish I had bought them years ago. When used regularly, these will totally prevent plateaus from occurring at all.2 suggestions for the company: the bag they come in isn't quite as strong as it needs to be, it does rip easily, and that's okay, it's not a big deal, but maybe consider finding something stronger or replace the draw string with a metal button instead. It rips easily around the drawstring. Also, I would love to have a fractional set like this for dumbells. Dumbells often jump from, say, for example, 22 kgs to 25 to 32 kgs at alot of gyms, making it hard to go up in weight. Consider making fractional plates that open and close and can be placed on the handle of the dumbell. For example, make the circumfrance smaller, then line the inside of it with a rubber. Then, put a hinge on the plates so that they can be opened and closed and added to dumbells. I drew a quick sketch of the idea and attached to this review.

These are great little fractional weights. I can now go all the way up in half pound increments, which is awesome. The finish on these is tough enough that it isn't coming off on my barbell sleeves, which I was a little concerned about when I first saw them. The little bag is handy. I can't imagine getting anything else. They're the same price as 2 inch washers from the hardware store, but these are color coded and more efficient to use. Worth it.

I am very happy with these plates. They are much, much more accurate than two other brands that I tried. I was hesitant to even buy these (because I already had enough fractional plates to do the job), but I've always been a bit disappointed in the ones I had due to accuracy issues and how they fit on the barbell. This brand went on sale, so I decided to give it a chance. They look cool, but accuracy was my bigger concern. When they arrived, all of the plates were in great condition. Time for the real test: I used my kitchen scale to measure the accuracy and I was very pleasantly surprised. All 8 of these plates were very, very close to the stated weight. Close enough that I consider them "spot on" for any reasonable purpose. When I weigh all 8 plates together, I think they totaled 5.002 or 5.004 pounds. I can't remember the exact number, but it was close enough that I was impressed. Even the small inaccuracies balanced each other out in the end.I have a home gym and I care about the accuracy of my plates. I use a balance scale for the larger plates, and a kitchen scale for the smaller plates. I don't understand why weight plates tend to be so variable (they have one job!)... but that's just the way it seems to be. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my loads are accurate; so I only keep plates that are close to their stated weight and it has taken some effort to collect my full set. When you load 200 lbs on the bar, you want to know that it is very close to 200 lbs. Not 203. Not 197. etc. And, with fractional plates, you might want to progress from 200 to 201, 202, 203, 204, and then finally 205. Or maybe you want 200 to 202.5 and then 205. You certainly don't want 199.2 to 203.1 and then 201.7 and then 204.8. Never knowing for sure why your progress seems somewhat random. Weights have, by definition, one job in life: they must weigh that amount.Anyway, these fractional plates more than met my expectations. They are very accurate, look very nice, and fit on the barbell great. I am glad that I gave this brand a chance. The brand I was using just before I bought these is the Iron Bull fractional plate set. Those worked "OK", but they didn't fit the barbell very well at all (the hole was too big so they were loose), and all of them were lighter than the stated 0.5 lb weight. They were all about 0.44 lbs. That level of inaccuracy adds up when you add all 8 to the barbell. Now, instead of 4 lbs, you have only added about 3.5 lbs. You also get less flexibility without the 0.25 lb plate. (No half pound steps.) So, you can't do a 2.5 pound jump (100 to 102.5 to 105). I found that annoying, so then I bought...The other brand I tried is the Rogue 1.25 pound fractional plates. Now, I could do 2.5 lb jumps. They looked nice, but it took me two attempts to get a set that fit on my barbell correctly and the plates were too random and not accurate. I ended up ordering 4 sets of these (don't ask) and kept the best pair. I think one of them weighs 1.258 lbs (I consider that fairly accurate, it was the best one by far) and the other is 1.17 lbs (not quite good enough in my opinion, but close enough). Remember, those are the best 2 out of 8 I bought. The others were much worse and I just discarded them. (Shipping from Rogue was so expensive on these relative to the product cost that it was cheaper to just order multiple sets at once, weight them all, and keep the best 2 rather than deal with product returns). I might still keep these around, because 1.25 lb plates are useful if you already own them and already spent a lot of time and energy/money getting an accurate enough pair. :-)BUT, if you are reading this review then you can easily get 2.5 lb jumps (1.25 lbs on each side) with just these 44SPORT plates. You don't need a specialized 1.25 lb plate set. Had I known better, I could have saved myself a lot of hassle and expense and just ordered this set first.
