The male ones have the socket nut on both sides, so I think "Okay, I'll just take the hardware off. They fall apart without the hardware, which means they can not be used at the end of a cable; they are only good for joining two cables. So I really can't use them. The female ones are very good and built differently.UPDATE: The one that fell apart, I re-assembled and used LocTite super glue to hold it together and it is now doing the job I needed it for. The Male to Male connectors should be made so that it uses maledb screw hardware or can be used without the hard ware.
