Even if you don't plan to do the exam, the tunes in this book are great for repertoire with head and improvisation sections.

Great songs, great arrangements. The chord labels are accurate and useful. The guideline pitches for the solos are clear and very helpful as a starting point. If this is your first taste of jazz I would recommend getting Jazz Piano From Scratch as well, just to get confident at improvising and get hang of some of the rhythmic things.
