I don't do much welding, but when you need to you have to have the tool. Sure, you can buy better but the cost goes up and up and for my occasional use this is what I need. Good size and portable, unlike what my father-in-law has, and it is just a stick welder. Be prepared you will want to buy some better accessories. My rating method:1 star - Avoid2 stars - Doesn't meet expectations on quality or materials3 stars - Meets expectations, but does not stand out, maybe costly compared to others4 stars - Exceeds expectations, something stands out, good value, recommended.5 stars - Awesome - blew it out of the park on quality, value - Highly recommended.

This review is for the mig 120 I'm rating this 4/5 but I did receive a defective product.! I'll explain more. When I received this welder after getting it setup, making sure the tip and wire were the correctly matched size making sure the mig gun and ground were secured to the machine, I turn it on set it to .08 mig setting 50 amps And hit the trigger. Nothing, turned it off and back on And double checked the connections, hit the trigger nothing, it was only when removing the mig gun and trigger wire did I find one of the trigger wires had detached from the connector, it appears they had a cold solder joint and they were very fragile. I did a quick re-solder on the trigger connector pins And boom trigger works and wire feeds! If you are prepared for situations like that then keep reading, if not I recommend looking elsewhere! This machine comes with all you need to get started besides a hood, the included accessories are mostly okay the gloves are poor quality and not shaped like hands, the wire brush, tape measure, ground clamp, mig gun and stick clamp are all pretty decent quality and I dont foresee having any issues with them judging by what I see!On 110v it goes up to 105a on all settings and actually welds pretty good! Now I'm a beginner, in the past I have had a good quality shielded mig welder and did a ton of welding but that was 10 years ago to say I'm rusty would be a monumental understatement, which makes this the perfect practice machine for me!Pictured is a few welds done between 40-60A with the include flux wire on a 1.3mm thick piece of mild steel exhaust tubing, on 60a I blew right through going too slow, 50a seemed to be the sweet spot for this piping. And I was able to get a few decent welds that penetrated the wall without blowing out and not a crazy amount of perosity considering it's flux core! The cost of this considering how well it welds is a fantastic value if you can overlook potential qc issues. I do plan on picking up a scratch Tig torch to use with this as well and when I do or if I have any issues moving forward I will report back here to update!!

The specs on this welder seem good, it can do multiples processes at both 110 and 220v, uses IGBT technology so it's light weight, includes most everything one needs to get started. They include a roll of flux core so I figured I would start with that. The first issue is the plastic spool was damaged. Not sure how that happened as the exterior box did not show any signs of abuse so I expect it was damaged before shipment.Using a little creativity and super glue I managed to fix the cracks in the spool so you could hardly tell they were there. I hand fed a few inches of wire into the machine past the rollers and mounted the spool. Before mounting the spool, I noticed one of the screws for the spool holder is just plain missing. There should be three screws and one was just gone. I didn't hear it rattling around so I believe it never installed. I installed the spool (with just the two screws until I can find another) and attempted to feed the wire out to the end of the torch.I found that the spool was not spinning properly on holder, it was binding up. Eventually I realized the edge is binding near the top. I fixed this by grinding off a couple of millimeters off the spool edge which took care of it.I then did a little bit of test welding and it seems to be working. I didn't play enough with it to get a real feel for it as it was getting dark. The one is noisy, the fan works at full blast as long as it's turned on, it doesn't use any sort of adaptive speed control based on temperature. I'll next try some basic stick welding which is simpler and shouldn't have any issues. The instructions are on the small side and some parts don't seem to match exactly, but it's easy enough to figure out. The front panel diagram on the listing page is much easier to read than the one in the manual, as is the heat setting diagram that is on the back of the device. Save off those images from the listing page for future use.

I have never had a welder before this one, but my brother taught me a little on a wire feed flux core welder, so I ordered this welder to practice with.I did some practice welds on an old piece of steel, I will not show my welds as I'm a total novice and I would rather not have the entire welding community make fun of me lol...The wire feed of this welder is very smooth, I ran about 10 feet of wire doing practice welds and I had no snags or hold ups with the wire feed. I tested it at 105A and it burned through the metal I was working on so I dialed it back to 80A and it ran great.I was able to weld 2 pieces of thin gauge box tube steel together with relative ease. Like I said, I'm a novice so that should speak to the usability of this welder. This welder kit comes with a 2lb spool of 0.8mm flux core wire so as long as you already have a welding mask and basic welding tools, you should be good to go.The wire feed is configured for 2lbs spools, not sure if it would work with the larger spools but probably not. They also included 4 spare tips for the wire gun. This welder surprised me with how small it is. I took a picture of it next to a 16" block and you can see that it is smaller than a common cement block. It is very easy to move around and will work with a small 3kw+ generator. That said, it might be a good tool to have on a bucket / scissor lift. This welder is only $120 but does the job of a $250 welder, I'm very happy with mine! it is both a great training tool and a nice piece of kit to have in any workshop.

I've had a few different welders at home as well as welding class. Lincoln to me is the best and my main one. Cost about 800-850 The one in class was I believe just under 2k but it was multi process with pulse and bunch of other settings but what a dream to weld with.Miller is built well its kinda you either prefer Lincoln or Miller. Haven't used a Hobart brand one. My first welder was the super cheap Harbor welder and it definitely had its pitfalls but for the price it really was pretty good. This seems to be more aimed at like the 2nd cheapest option at the Harbor. which I haven't used but know its a little better. So ill try to be somewhat concise but still detailed.Wire speed is directly controlled with current and computer decides how fast it should go - big drawback for me. Amperage is little off if used to brand name but if you've had a generic before it probably compares pretty close. Haven't maxed out setting but what Ive welded with and had to adjust settings to Id say its more like 130 amp give or take. I've only used flux core on this machine probably what 99 percent of people buying it are going to use. It doesn't make sense to spend all the money on gas for the price of the machine. Kinda surprised this doesn't take .023 wire but it doesn't have speed controller so i wouldn't be trying to fix sheet metal with it. Included wire splatters how cheaper wire splatters but put in some better wire and it honestly welds pretty good. The second worse thing about this welder following the no wire speed is the grip trigger and nozzle. Just really cheap worse then the one from harbor. If the price is really good and you factor in that you might need to replace that it could be ok but since it gives you no independent control of the wire I cant really recommend it.
