Good Maintenance Practices

Tire pressure sensors can become damaged if you drive on a flat tire for an extended period of time. Make sure to get your tire pressure sensor checked if this ever happens to you. It is also important that tire valve components be replaced whenever the tire is removed from the wheel. This will restore proper sealing of the sensor and help preserve the integrity of the TPMS sensor and valve.

Maintaining proper tire inflation level is so important that beginning with the 2008 model year, Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are now government mandated on most new vehicles. Tire safety studies have also shown that under-inflated tires can degrade vehicle handling, decrease fuel economy, and increase tire wear.

Signs of Wear and Troubleshooting

Signs your tire pressure monitoring system may be worn or needs to be replaced include:

If the Tire Pressure Monitoring light appears as a blinking yellow lamp for more than one minute, and then stays solid, diagnostic service is needed.

If the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is not functioning properly it cannot detect or signal a low tire condition. Some vehicles may also display ‘Service Tire Monitor System’ on the Driver Information Center.

If the tire pressure monitoring light comes on and stays on solid with a ‘check tire pressure’, ‘low tire pressure’, or ‘add air to tire message (for vehicles with Driver Information Center), then check and adjust all tire air pressures to the recommended levels, then drive the vehicle to turn the light off.

FAQs

Q: If I ignore the blinking Tire Pressure Monitoring light in my vehicle will there be consequences?

A: Yes, if the Tire Pressure Monitoring light appears as a blinking yellow lamp for more than one minute, and then stays solid, diagnostic service is needed. If the Tire Pressure Monitoring System is not functioning properly it cannot detect or signal a low tire condition.

Q: Can driving on an under-inflated tire cause damage to my vehicle?

A: Yes, tire safety studies have shown that under-inflated tires can degrade vehicle handling, decrease fuel economy, and increase tire wear.

Q: Do I need to replace tire valve components when the tire is removed from the wheel?

A: Yes, replacing tire valve components whenever the tire is removed from the wheel will restore proper sealing of the sensor and ensure the integrity of the TPMS sensor and valve. TPMS valves only need to be replaced if visible damage or leaks can be seen between the valve and the wheel.

This product was fantastic, I had been paying the tire shop to replace the sensor and install it and it would always come out to be around $75, well I purchased this exact same sensor for somewhere between $13-$16..... And then I brought it to the tire shop where they charged me $20 to install it, so the total was around $35 compared to the $75 I was paying and this sensor was just as good as the manufacturers, matter of fact I just ordered two more just to keep as spares because they do go out more often than I would like and I also got a scan tool to go along with it that way I would not have to program them manually by letting out air from the tire and I can just do it with this simple press of a button and that's always fairly cheap and definitely worth the money, to be able to look in your tire pressure by clicking a button on the dash is a luxury that I cannot put into words especially when it's 20 below outside, my wife never looks at it like it's something that needs to be taken care of right away whenever the sensor goes out and just kind of blows it off until something actually happens when she realizes that she could have really used that at that moment in time, it's one of those comforts that comes with the vehicle and definitely one that I take advantage of so when it comes to needing a new sensor I don't slack on things like that because I like to be able to see what my tire pressure is by pressing the button as opposed to getting out from time to time and having to check each time by hand, especially if one happens to be leaking air a little bit and you would have to check it many times more, you know like I said it's just one of those comforts that I take advantage of and as far as this sensor goes I give it a 10 because it works is good as any other sensor and the prices unbeatable

First time a sensor has went bad on my 2007 Avalanche. Still have the factory metal ones and getting a intermittent tpms light for my passenger rear. Now i work at a GM dealership and even my cost was still higher than the price of this so Amazon is who i purchased with. Now i have the opportunity to replace this myself but others your tire will have to be dismounted and this one installed. Otherwise programming this was a breeze as you will need a tool to relearn the sensor to the vehicle but after replacement no more tpms light. Worked and installed flawlessly and happy that light it out as it annoyed me. Now i just have to purchase 3 more!

Sensor nueva version para cambio de los originales que dejaron de funcionar después de 9 años

Purchased three units but none works on the Caddilac CT6 2018. Can’t return them because when they installed them they had to remove the previous air nozel and put the new ones. Can’t put the old one back, so lost both ways… would appreciate if you can be specific to which model these sensors work and take into consideration that if your selling in the UAE then in the majority of cases the car will be a GCC spec. These doesn’t work for my car.
