After getting a thunderingly loud whistle from the same manufacturer, I decided to get this one. It has a much softer tone that works much better for the controlled training scenarios we are working on currently. I will still carry my loud whistle when I take the dog out in the field, but for backyard training, this one is much better.

I bought these to replace one that I had borrowed from a friend. I would not consider myself to be a skilled dog trainer but this was easy with my long-range pup. Invent your own custom call - one long and 2 short peeps in our case - provide a tasty reward, and now he comes running from who-knows-where when I want. I believe there are some hints on which frequency works best for certain breeds so do your research before choosing. Then keep one in each vehicle or on your keyring and enjoy the off-leash dog park.

This isn't the fault of the product. Seems like an okay whistle, but my dog will not hang around when this whistle is blown. I've tried tiny little short tweets, longer tweets, further away, outside. I've tried tweeting before throwing a toy, tweeting before tossing her a treat. No luck. She runs away. If your dog is on the timid side, a whistle might not work for you.
