2000 VW Jetta 1.9 TDISo I only needed the clutch slave cylinder because I had already replaced the clutch master cylinder.I purchased this because they offered one day shipping.I originally had purchased the AMS AUTOMOTIVE S1707 and that clutch slave cylinder was defective. I would use a vacuum pump to pull all of the air out of the system and within a mile travel the clutch pedal would go from releasing when my foot was 90% off the clutch pedal to when my foot is 15% off the clutch pedal. Understand the car has a brand new clutch in it.Now with this clutch slave cylinder you will definitely need a vacuum pump to bleed. I know I filled the small vacuum pump reservoir at least 6 times and I still wasn't able to get EVERY SINGLE air bubble out. But I did get the big bursts of air out, which is generally the main concern (those gigantic bursts of air when you first crack the bleeder valve).
