Very simple power supply with a high current transformer. The voltage knob is also an on switch and it clicks to the off position when turned all the way counter clockwise. When turned on, the transformer will display the current output voltage from 3 to just over 12 volts. The knob is easy to turn but it's difficult to set it to an exact voltage so if that's something that bothers you, this may be annoying. From my experience, as long as you are in the range, it's fine. So a 9V device can work fine from 8.5-10.5v with no issues. Once the voltage is dialed in, it doesn't really drift. It stays where you set it until the knob is touched again.Both the power cord and the adapter cable are hard wired to the transformer and can't be replaced easily. The power plug is the standard size that so many electronic devices use, especially 12v devices. This works well for LED signs, DC motors, and other things that still work well when the voltage is reduced. The adapter has 4 mounting holes to screw it on to a wall or on the back of a device. A nice touch for use in permanent installations with specific voltage requirements.

This unit is what I expected. Non-commercial grade but okay for a hobbyist. Actual voltage measured on fluke meter was within 2 tenths of a volt. Dial (pot) is too sensitive so difficult to get spot on. Lowest voltage is actually 3.8 volts. I will get allot use out of this unit. It's fine for LED circuits. It's what I expected.
