I liked this harness, but you can only use it if you're wearing a belt to anchor the back of the harness. It has very good padding and is comfortable, but it cannot be worn with most band uniforms. The hook is sturdy and easily fastened.

My nephew is in high school marching band and was in need of a strap to help him with his instrument. The concept looked good on the advertisement, but in use, it was a bit more of a hassle than helpful. During marching band practice, this was a great tool as he always used a belt with his clothes. When it came time for him to practice with his marching uniform....with no belt loops and a jacket...the harness was very ineffective. We had to quickly come up with a belt wrapped around his ribs to help hold up the harness. It did not work too well because the straps can only be made so short. We will have to come up with something else to get this to work with his marching uniform. The harness does work as shown in the pictures, so I can't really complain about that, but for using while in uniform... not work too good.

I got this for a friend who plays alto and tenor. He said it works great-- it takes the weight well and feels good. Those are the important parts. Less important but worth mentioning, is that he said it takes longer to set up than a normal strap, because you have to attach the back of it to the back of your pants. And that was something he wasn't super thrilled with from a fashion standpoint (he's 17 and plays semi-professionally in a jazz fusion band), though he did say that he'll definitely use it in the recording studio. It also might not work well with some marching band uniforms.

This saxophone harness has great padding on the shoulders, a sturdy metal clasp and will definitely take the pressure away from the neck making it much more comfortable. However. I didn't realize that the harness secures with velcro to your belt. Who wears a belt? Certainly not my 13 year old kid. And hardly ever a girl. And it seems insecure to have a heavy tenor sax being completely supported by strips of velcro going around a belt. It would make me too nervous to use even if my kid ever did wear a belt. If the velcro comes loose the whole apparatus, sax and all, is hitting the ground. We all know that after some time, velcro gets less grippy as it's covered with dirt and fuzz and strings. The only instance that makes some sense to me is if there's a band uniform being worn that includes a belt. But this still doesn't solve the precarious support issue. I feel like this is not a good design and it is not going to be of any use to us.
