I wanted something to cover the bottom of the aquarium before putting larger rocks on. We have turtles and they like to move things around so would easily scratch the glass moving rocks around, this helps prevent that and actually makes the rocks harder to move as well.

Great product! Snaps together with a soft tap. Great packaging and shipping. They are about 1/4" thick. I'd measure but they are already in my aquarium.

I haven’t used this in my aquarium, I actually bought this to make a separation in my big flight cage for my finches. The grid formed from interlocking 8 of these pieces together has kept up and holds dishes with water (heavy reptile water dishes that they use for bathing in) for the last 4 months.
