My wife hopped on the sour dough bus that everyone seems to be on and this seems to be a inexpensive way to get started she loves it and has some she’s making and is always “feeding” it hopefully it turns out as good as it smells

It is small, and can easily be put on the counter which is great if you do not have a lot of space. Instructions are well written and there is a timer for your ease of mind. It definitely worked beautifully and helped my started (named Breadgar Allan Dough) rise faster than he had recently. Between rain and cooler weather it was a nightmare. My only concern for long term is wondering if the material can hold up to extended usage because it feels plasticky. Keeping that in mind, the temperature for the starter shouldn't go much over 80 so I might just be knit picking because I worry about kitchen incidents.

This product works for creating sourdough starter. However, if you read the manual it states the temperature is only accurate up to +-15 degrees, which is pathetically inaccurate. In my quick test with a thermal camera, it seemed even less accurate than that, often peaking at 20 degrees hotter than the requested temperature. As long as you keep that in mind, you can account for it and counteract it. In order to not fry your starter due to this awful inaccuracy, you're best keeping this thing at 70 F.
