The camera quality is good, it is well made (sturdy?) but the installation is made difficult by the fact that the installation instructions require a PhD and magnification glass to read/understand. If you have some automotive electrical skills you can install it yourself, but if not, just have a good stereo installer do it for you. There really is no reason they couldn't provide MUCH better directions for the installation, they just chose not to. Once I had it installed, it worked very well. Picture is clear and as long as you are hooking it up to an Alpine headunit, it functions as you wold expect.

This is the second camera of this model I have bought. The first is still installed and working on my Ford Excursion. Why the second? I trust it enough to install it on my 16 years olds car.Look, if trusting it’s safe enough for your kid isn’t a good endorsement, I don’t know what is. And I do like this kid. I know that can make a difference for some people.Anyway, I live in a high desert climate. 100+ in the summer, snow in the winter. Basically the temps can vary greatly. The camera is still working and going strong. Not sure what all you would want in a backup camera. But if it’s a clear picture of what’s behind you this one is perfect.

Perfect addition to an aftermarket radio I installed in the ole F150. Exceptionally clear image and easy to install.

I purchased the HCE-C1100 backup camera along with Alpine KTX-C10LP License Plate Mounting Kit and I must say it works very well. The picture isn't immaculate but its clear and does the job. I previously had two vehicles and used cheaper camera on one and another Alpine on the other. The one I installed the cheap camera's on I wound up have to replace them every few months, I darn near tried every cheap one made and they always quit working after a while, but the one I installed the Alpine on I never had a problem with for the entire time I owned the car. Foolishly I traded in the car and left the camera on it, if I thought ahead I would have removed it before I traded it in, but oh well live and learn. If the camera ever goes out or I have any problems with it I'll update my review but from past experience it seems Alpine cameras are the only ones that are built to last.
