The AMBITFUL 15.7''/40cm Mini Octagonal Softbox has some great features and is very easy to use as a portable softbox. The carry bag is handy and easy to use, and it is quite simple to open or close the softbox. I found mounting it was a it challenging as it doesn't have a good way to grip the bowens mount when fitting it to your light or adapter. The softbox is much smaller than I usually use in my studio, but I wanted a light that could be focused closer to a subject and bring out faces or key details without spilling over everything. As you can see, I typically use much larger softboxes. The grid works well at directing the light and there seems to be good diffusion with or without the grid. This is small enough to carry around on locations for that extra light on people without being bulky and in the way, but I would only use it for a single model session, or maybe a couples session if they are close together. It fits all my Godox strobes, and fits the Godox adapter for the AD200Pro strobes without any issue. The build quality and engineering seem to be good and I expect this will last longer than me :D Be aware that there are no instructions and you need to come back to the listing to see how it works, but once you figure it out, this is a snap to use. I am happy with it.

This is a "cute" softbox that can be very useful in the studio for portrait, photography, or in your vlogging desk and definitely for streaming for those all of you out there that are influencers. It produces an output that is very diffused, thanks to it do a layer diffuser screens and if you want a more focused lighting, you can use the grid diffuser, that's also provided with the kit. It comes with a carrying case and it's foldable that it will fit in that carrying case, including the adapter for the Bowen mount. It's so small to carry when folded that will definitely enable you to take it around on your photo sessions outdoors, and still give you studio lighting, quality diffusion. The build quality is very solid and every time you open it up and close it up you can actually feel and hear how dirty it is. The set up is so easy as you only have to unlock or lock one pin to make it stay in place put it in the mount and you're good to go! Will accommodate different size speedlites and video lights/lamps. Just a word of caution though, I wouldn't recommend using it with lights that produces high heat like those halogen ones but instead, I would use LED light sources for this one since it's a little small. just a little tip also when it comes to video lighting, if you have a low output light, you can actually remove the inner diffuser to give you more lighting intensity, particularly when you're using warm light temperature.I can't think of anything bad to comment about with this particular soft box as it is so functional.Having tested this size soft box with this brand, I will definitely buy the other sizes that they carry. I am going to highly recommend this to anyone that are just starting out and even to the professional ones as this will last you a long time due to its build quality, ease of use and portability!

While I mostly need to use larger soft boxes, I did need one that was smaller for other types of shoots, and this softbox is perfect. I have at least 3 different studio lights, all different brands, and all bowens mounts. This easily fits them all (as expected) and is particularly great for my smaller, more portable light.And that’s a particular use case that makes something like this great. If you frequently are using a more mobile right for close ups, this is large enough without being TOO large. But make no mistake: it is a mini softbox, as advertised. And don’t expect it to fit non-bowens mounts (though, you can usually find an adapter).Overalll it’s great quality and really easy to use the quick release mechanism to get this thing on and off effeciently. The Ambitful 15.7” softbox shines, play on words intended, in several ways. First off, this appears to be a well-engineered and constructed light modifier that is priced attractively. Second, the combination of a very clever mechanism for quick setup and collapsing, along with the portability that it offers when collapsed and in its carrying bag, makes the Ambitful FS-40 the first light modifier I now want to grab as I go out the door with my lighting gear. Third, this thing comes ready to mount on any of my Bowens mount equipment. Still another reason to grab it. Well, OK… if that wasn’t enough, when you open this puppy up, about a five-second step, for me anyway, there’s no extra time spent attaching diffusers. Oh, and then there’s the grid. Yes, it even comes with a grid which is easily attached with hook-and-loop fasteners around the octagonal perimeter of the FS-40.So, do I now count on this cool little modifier for every shoot? Well, of course not. Yes, the light quality through the diffusion is plenty good. And yes, it’s going to be with me most all the time. But a softbox this size is still limited by, well, its size. In most situations, it is not going to take the place of larger light sources if I’m looking for soft light. I say in most cases because the old principle goes that the larger the light is relative to the subject, the softer the light. So, if the FS-40 is used to illuminate a small subject, say like an object on a tabletop, and the light is placed quite close, then soft light is possible. For portraiture, however, I’m digging the FS-40 as a source that is somewhere between my hard and soft light sources. There are times when I want hard light and other times when I want soft light, depending on the subject and the story I’m trying to tell. The FS-40 fills a niche right between the two when placed close to the subject and is a great tool for a hair light or backlight.All that is just to say the Ambitful FS-40 has proven to be a valuable tool, one that is always close by whether shooting at home or in the studio.
