Overall, we're so glad we could get this stuff. It hits a sweet spot of price & performance considering all the fiber alternatives available to DIYers (premix, poly, fiberglass, basalt).Pros:* Inexpensive.* Mixes surprisingly well without clumps.* Concrete works and finishes as well as fiber-added premix.Cons:* A tiny bit more work & coordination.* Takes a little while to dial in the mix (amount of fiber, how the fiber affects slump).* Most the fiber is nice and free, but you'll still find a few small pre-clumped "hairballs" that need to be picked out/picked apart.* Like all fiber-added concrete, finishing takes a bit more work.We're DIY folks pouring 400+ sqft of patio slab with a power mixer. Local soil conditions require lots of prep and reinforcement. We've had good results with fiber-enhanced premix, but the higher price for a big slab (almost twice as much) pushed us to try adding fibers to regular premix.Mixing: We cut the bags in half and stage them with a light handful of fibers per half bag. The fibers mix surprisingly well. I spray a little water in the mixer to prevent sticking and mix fairly dry to break up the fibers with the gravel. When I add water, I concentrate my spray on the mixer blades and the back of the mixer to prevent caking. The fiber lowers the slump of the concrete so you need to be careful to not add too much water.Pouring: The lower slump makes the concrete a little harder to fill in around rebar/mesh, but it's not too bad. We get no voids when we strip our forms.Finishing: Like any concrete with any fiber, the fibers tend to float up with the cream and gather on screeds, trowels, and brooms. It makes getting a perfect finish a little more difficult, but even DIYers like us can lay down a nice broomed finish when we time it right.

Decided to give this a try to use in a small retaining wall instead of rebar to give it a try. I’m not quite sure how I would know if this works or not until sometime passes but so far it seems fine. It makes up easily and I don’t have any complaints.

This is the second package I've gotten of fiber for adding to concrete. I was skeptical at first that it would be possible to mix it effectively. I figured I'd end up with a ball of fiber somewhere in the concrete and not help anything. But with a power concrete mixer, its surprisingly easy to get it mixed in.I get the concrete to the desired consistency then I start taking small bits out (maybe a couple tablespoons at a time) and from that small bit I gradually toss it into the mixer. I add maybe a cup for each bag of concrete in the mixer.As you put the concrete in a narrow form with a shovel you can see individual fibers pulling out of the concrete. Its surprising how well it can be mixed in with just a minute or two's work.I've only mixed it in with a power mixer, but I don't do concrete without one :). And the minute or two it takes to mix in is a welcome break from the real work.I can't tell you how much strength it adds to the concrete, but fiber is a common addition to delivered concrete so its got to provide some real value, right?
