It was broken when it arrived and never got an answer when I sent a message about it

We purchased this item so we could surprise our grandchildren. They were suitably startled until the novelty wore off.The toy mostly functions well. The spider jammed a few times but was easy to fix.

I got this hoping to relive some childhood memories with my niece. My uncle had a similar prank box when I was a kid, which was made from wood, metal, and a fabric spider. The spider would leap out with a quick, startling motion that made it truly frightening and hilarious. This modern version, however, fell short of my expectations. It's made from plastic and features a rubber spider. While the materials themselves aren't necessarily a deal-breaker, the overall execution of the prank is disappointing. The spider moves in a linear motion, which significantly reduces the scare factor. Unlike my uncle's box, where you could open the lid just a crack without seeing the spider, this box reveals the spider too soon. When my niece opened the lid halfway, she could already see the spider mid-escape. The scare element is all about the sudden burst and touch of the spider, and this box fails to deliver that. The mechanism doesn't have the same quick acceleration, and as a result, the prank just doesn't land as intended. In summary, while the idea is great and could have been a fun throwback, the lack of a proper scare mechanism and the linear motion of the spider make this prank box less effective. It's a decent toy but not the effective prank it promises to be.
