I have been using Aurifil thread in making quilts for many years. I have found it to be one of the best and at a reasonable price. Aurifil offers a wonderful color selection, too!

I’m a quilter and went ahead and drank the Aurifil Kool-aid after having some issues with my Janome machines when using the basic craft store threads. Wow! This move has made a big improvement in how the machine sews! Who knew?I was occasionally having some issues with tension and just getting a nice, smooth, consistent stitch stitch. This, when piecing quilt fabric purchased at quilting shops...Moda, Kaffe, etc.Aurifil Thread made an immediate difference in how smooth the machine sews. One thing that really highlighted the difference was what happened when I unboxed my new Janome 5300. I loaded a Janome bobbin that had Coats all-purpose thread already wound on it and threaded the needle with the same thread. OMG! The machine started off loudly and after 4 or 5 stitches or so, it seized up and gave an error message. I tried several times with same result, even removing the bobbin and thread and re-installing. Still...big problems.I was crushed thinking my new machine was a lemon and was about to box it back up to return it when I thought about trying Aurifil thread. Did just that and Viola! Sewed like a champ! I was shocked thread could make such a difference! Kept the machine and not a glitch or a stutter ever since!I’m a convert as is my partner who has a Janome QDC 4000 series. She’d been frustrated with her stitches thinking it was the machine. She’d been piecing quilts with the Coats thread too. I suggested she change and her issues went away. She’s mentioned several times how much better it sews. Different machines seem to like certain threads but all people I’ve spoken with or read about don’t have problems with Aurifil. I might add my machine loves Gütermann as well.I love the color choices with Aurifil and have purchased many spoils. There is still fuzz that collects but less than other less expensive brands. Nature of the beast. Just clean your machine frequently to keep it out of the shop. Don’t blow it out as that just pushes the fuzz deeper into the machinery.
