This is a very solid labeler, if you do a lot of IT labeling it's amazing with a zillion patch panel features and cabling options. It's also pretty straightforward to make labels using a spreadsheet and the computer software. The nice part of this is this acts like a totally wireless printer that roams around with you. It prints over wifi after you get it connected as a printer. When you boot it up you can see it connect to your wireless. Then you can do some nice chain printing and the labels just come out by where you're working. There is a beefy long lasting battery that frankly has never really gone done for me yet. It seems to last forever. You can also put in regular batteries if you ever get in a pinch.I've been using non-brother labels which have been working fine. Though off-brand doesn't do the "half-cut" feature as well but that is no fault of the labeler.Tip: Make sure to setup the printer drivers on your computer before trying to setup wifi. That's the only way I found to configure the IP address to work on my network. I plugged it into the usb port temporarily to set the right ID and give it a static IP. It took awhile to figure that out. They have software (BRAdmin Light) that helped. One slight downside is that the 36mm tape (very wide) doesn't fit in it.Other than that, it's a real pro tool.

This replaced my old standard issue Dymo that my company uses. With the Dymo, I constantly had to clean it because any spec of dust seemed to cause labels to print that were unreadable. I haven't had to clean the PTE500 yet after a month of using it, and all the labels have looked perfect.I still haven't had time to learn how to use the more advanced features like printing out a series or off of a spreadsheet but it will pay for itself with the time saved next time I'm on a big job. I recently did a huge install at Arrowhead Stadium (where the Chiefs play) where I spent three 10-hour days just making labels and tags. If I had this label maker with me at the time I probably would have gotten it done in a day or less. The Dymo needs constant cleaning, manual cleaving, having to cut margins to fit on the tags, and manually typing in each label. The PTE500 can be set to a size that fits, auto cleave, and be printed in a series within set parameters. You will save your company thousands of dollars in needless labor costs over it's life span by buying one of these.

This labeler supports the larger label sizes and is great for wire-wrapping cables--especially if you hate label "flags". I've used this for network patch panels, wire wraps of CAT6, electrical cabling, etc. Check out the shrink wrap labels--they're great too. This may be a little pricey for the average home DIYer, but it's indispensable for onsite technicians who want their work to have a professional look.
