Kit comes with plenty of supplies to complete the projects. I like everything about the kit except the thread is of a rather poor quality…it certainly does the job but the struggles would be less with a DMC, for example.

Although I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch, this is the first one I have tried in years. And I have used Buclla kits before, but this will be my last one. I will say the ornaments are beautiful when completed, but I didn’t even try to do the beaded edging as pictured. I bought small frames from another Amazon vender and put the completed cross stitch in them. The instructions and graphic charts are written for 20 year old eyes, and I have spent a lot of time with a magnifying glass to figure out where I am on the Aida cloth and where my needle is. I finally took a picture of the charted ornament and enlarged it, so at least I can see what I am supposed to do. The floss included with the kit is cheap and difficult to work with. It feels very coarse. The instructions tell you to cut out a 4 inch square of the cloth to use for each ornament; however the smallest embroidery hoop I could find has a 4 inch diameter which means the cloth wouldn’t fit in the hoop! I knew I wouldn’t make all 30 ornaments so I cut the square 4 1/2 inches, which was still tricky. I understand that my need of a magnifying glass is not Bucillas fault, but cheapness and lack of needed supplies is their fault.

I love counted cross stitch. These are very quick to work up. I chose a different border/frame than the pattern but will use the beads for embellishing. Ample yarn and gauge of canvas is good.

I bought this as a starter kit for my 12 year old daughter. She has never cross stitched before. When I was looking for something easy this came up. The listing says the patterns are printed. So in my mind I'm thinking that the patterns are clearly marked onto the fabric. I have done kits like that before, you just put your x over the x, easy. Not this kit! The patterns are NOT printed on the fabric, you have to transfer them by hand, or try and work off of the paper pattern, which is not as easy for a beginner. It's easy to get lost. Also the paper pattern is Very Very small, the color code on the individual pattern is so small I can not make it out. I will have to work off of the color picture on the front that shows them complete. Also as others have said the floss is cheap, but I was OK with that. There's no hoop, I was also OK with that. But for $30 all you get is cheap floss tangled up, a piece of fabric, and an unreasonablely small pattern that i will have to scan and blow up to use! All of which was supposed to be a fun holiday project for my kid, and now I'm just pissed!
