Having some fun here but the top did look decent on camera during a live show. It gives the vibe need for pirates, a live gaming show or a ren-fair. The quality is good and the sizing is perfect. It is a great addition to my costume wardrobe.

I ordered this Men's Cotton Linen Shirt Retro Lace Up Drawstring Shirts Renaissance Pirate Viking Medieval Halloween lace-up shirt for my teenage son, and to add to our family’s costume collection.We go all out for Halloween; my family loves costumes. My son has a few “pirate” style shirts already, but he really liked the black version. His other ones are the traditional billowing white, blousy, v-necked type.This shirt is made from a fabric that the sales page calls both “100% cotton” and “cotton linen”. I’m not a fabric expert, but I think this is most likely a blend of some sort, based on the hand feel. I do think there is cotton in the mix, but cotton has become fairly expensive; a 100% cotton shirt at this low price (currently $19.99) and with all these styling elements (v-neck, grommets, loops to hold up rolled sleeves) seems unlikely.My best guess is that this probably is part cotton and part manmade textile. I don’t think there’s linen in the mix because it doesn’t feel or wrinkle like linen. Also, I’ve noticed lately that a lot of people use cotton and linen interchangeably. Linen is not made from cotton, it’s made from flax.Anyway, the fabric is lightweight, and my son says it breathes well and is comfortable to wear.This shirt is a fun costume piece, you can style it a bunch of different ways. I always find is amusing when costume companies go overboard on the description—this is described as a Renaissance Pirate Viking Medieval Halloween shirt. Sure, you could wear it as some of these things, but all together?I think the metal grommeting eliminates the Medieval and Renaissance and Viking right out of the gate. Okay, I won’t be pedantic about what period this shirt does/doesn’t align with, because you know what?This is a great costume shirt. Okay, the modern construction is fairly obvious, but this a great shirt for swashbuckling and adventuring. It’s romantic and a bit piratical and even slightly Byronic. This is a shirt of a scoundrel, a rake, a rogue… but it could also be for a prince, or a brave knight. Or even that aforementioned Renaissance Pirate Viking, whoever he may be.This shirt has more style in just its than any entire modern hoodie or tee. You know you want to try it. Why not be the hero in your own adventure, for a change?I ordered my son an XL. He’s just about 6’ tall, and weighs about 200 pounds. He’s built large, not heavy, with a broad chest and wide shoulders. The XL fits him it’s the way he likes, with some extra room for comfort. He usually buys an XL, and he usually wears them a little large by choice, so I would say this runs true to size.This shirt comes in a variety of colors, including khaki, red, and this deep, inky black.This is ideal for any guy who has the soul of an adventurer, any one who secretly dreams of sailing the bounding main under the Jolly Roger, or defending the pure and innocent with only their sword and their wits. By the way, the right girl could rock this shirt, too. It could make a great nightshirt, or size up and belt it, for a short, sexy piratical mini dress.May all your adventures in this shirt be epic!
