Recently, I purchased an MSR pika at REI for $40 + tax. It’s ultralight and has a plastic lid. Though I dig the ultralight part for long-haul backpacking excursions, I have an extreme dislike of plastic anything. This teapot is slightly heavier but is ALL stainless steel including the lid and appears to have an opening large enough to stow a fuel canister (much like the msr pika). It comes in a nice little mesh bag and has measurements stamped into the metal on the side. The top line for filling purposes is 200ml (.6 L).I expect the handle and pot top will get very hot when placed over heat but as is the case with any metal cook wear, exercise caution and don’t grab barehanded. At $10 cheaper than the MSR teapot, if you’re not an ounce-counter, this is a really nice pot and will serve you well. It will boil plenty of water to rehydrate a meal and tea/coffee for two. Great value!

I actually really like this kettle, it seems it was thought through in terms of design fairly well. The lid fits nice and tight, and the build quality seems very nice. The numbers for filling to a certain measured level inside are stamped and clearly distinguishable. The handle is also tight and can stand straight up.My only two issues with it are these. One is that it has no whistle or ability to tell when water inside is boiling. I know it would add complexity so they likely skipped it on purpose, but some British tea kettles manage to achieve this function with just a crimp in the right spot and that would be ideal. The other is that the handle can get REALLY hot. I would likely leave it standing straight up when heating to keep it as far away from the heat source as possible. I might wrap this in paracord to avoid potential burns.
