Installed on IS frame 1&1/8 - 1&1/2 tapered carbon fork.After install, the crown race creates a 2mm gap between the headtube and fork crown, which was not present with the previous headset. Unclear why there is a lip on the bottom side of the crown race but something to factor into your build if you buy the "IS52/40/H1" option.Good news: Its working. The gasket on the crown race should protect the bearings from what-all that gets trapped in that gap!Bad news: Looks terrible if you care about these kinds of things.

Awesome little kit for replacing the Cane Creek Forty Bottom headset bearings/ring. This item will rust and the bearings will wear out if you ride in wet weather! Solution? Get the 110 set.

Great lower headset replacement for the stock caged ball bearing on my 2016 Kona Process 134. Very pleased with the Cane Creek quality. Peace of mind knowing replacement cartridge bearings of any series (40 or 110) can be swapped in and out quickly and use the same bearing cup.Note about the installation - Brought my rig to a shop to get the cup pressed in, but it was surprising to see the Park Tool Press had no alignment feature when pressing this cup in, it only kept the cup as flat as possible. If it goes in crooked, you have to remove the cup, spin it 180 deg and try again. In the future, I can build a rudimentary press out of thread rod/bolt, washers and nuts myself. I obviously don't recommend the average joe doing this, but if you are mechanically inclined it is a simple job with the right tools.

So I recently purchased a Wren 150 Series Suspension Fork for my Fat Bike. I purchased this extra bearing race so I can switch back and forth if I wanted too. The fit and finish is flawless as expected with Cane Products! Easy to install and smooth moving.

Cane Creek makes quality products. Every one of their headsets I've bought worked great. They do make assortment of headsets. Everytime I need one I look on their website first to see if they have the right size/type. Their customer service is also really good. I have called a few times and reached a live person to answer my questions every time.This works for use of 1 1/8 straight steer forks in a tapered headtube. You only need the bottom because the top of tapered headtube is still 1-1/8 so you would use the regular set. Fits great.
