This is a good security addition for your door. Heavy duty material. I used it for my side fence. As of today no sign of rust Rain or shine.

We needed a lock that we could put on our screen door so we could have the main door open, but still lock the screen door. Mostly we needed this so the dog couldn't push his way outside whenever he wanted. This worked really well. We were able to place the lock about half way up the door (being sure it didn't interfere with the main door handle or lock), and it keeps the door from opening until a human wants it to. Very easy to install and a very nice weighted metal.

I guess I should have examined the picture with the dimensions more carefully, because this is much smaller than I expected. While that's on me, it's also true that the latch will only work on a door that's perfectly flush against the wall or doorframe. There's not even a centimeter of wiggle room, which means its really only suitable for interior doors that aren't affected by the shrinkage of weather and temperature. The screws that hold it in place are also tiny-- roughly 1/4 inch in length, so don't expect the latch to provide a lot of security against forced entry. Still, it's all metal with a nice matte black finish. The latch is easy to install as well. It's quite cute (if that's what you want in a door latch/lock), so I give it four stars. But the promotional pics of it being used on an actual barn door... forget it.

We needed a way to close a door with a broken latch, but the door opens into the bedroom and we wanted to catch it from the outside. A hook and eye would mean our hard-headed dog could shove her head at the door, and eventually pull the hook or eye (or both) right out, and voila, the door's open. Most other latches require they be on the inside of a door -- but this one works perfectly for the outside of a door that opens in.It did take a bit of turning the pieces around to get a sense of which part moves and which part is attached where, but once it was screwed in, it's not going anywhere. And it holds a lot better than a hook-and-eye, too. No way is the dog's head hard enough to take this thing out (although maybe I shouldn't test fate, whoops).
