Acerca de este artículo

  • 802.11ac Wave 2 with 3x3 Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology with two spatial streams when operating in single-user or multiuser MIMO mode, offering 867-Mbps rates for more capacity and reliability than competing access points.
  • Multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) allows transmission of data to multiple 802.11ac Wave 2 capable clients simultaneously to improve client experience. Prior to MU-MIMO, 802.11n and 802.11ac Wave 1 access points could transmit data to only one client at a time, typically referred to as single-user MIMO.
  • Transmit beamforming technology improves downlink performance to mobile devices, including one- and two-spatial-stream devices on 802.11ac, while improving battery life on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.
  • Flexible deployment mode through the Mobility Express Solution is ideal for small to medium-sized deployments that require multiple access points. Easy setup allows the 1830 Series to be deployed on networks without a physical controller.
  • Dimensions (W x L x H): Access point (without mounting bracket): 8.3 x 8.3 x 2 in. (210.8 x 210.8 x 50.8 mm). Weight: 2.05 lb (930 Grams).

I bought this item and called Cisco for support because you need a FW update to use it without a controller.Cisco will not help you as the devices being sold here are registered in Cisco as been sold laready to another company and are out of warranty and out of support. Cisco will not even offer you to purchase an extended warranty.Stay away from this item and this seller.

I am a consumer and bought this for my home. This is a really good access point. I understand why everyone is writing bad reviews but it is really unfair. This AP is a little different to set up than most of the consumer grade AP's but that doesn't make it a bad product or deserving of bad reviews. This is an enterprise class AP so there are some differences in how it works but it's pretty much the same as a consumer grade AP. Cisco's enterprise level AP's are primarily made to run with a controller which is a separate piece of hardware that isn't cheap. With Mobility Express, Cisco embedded a controller into the AP but it acts like a stand alone controller, whereas a consumer grade AP, the AP and control software act as one unit. The Cisco acts as if it were a separate AP and Controller even though they are in the same unit. The controller (Mobility Express) gets its own IP address during set up. The access point has it's own IP address. I was initially very confused during the setup but once I got in and looked around for a while I figured it out and then it was really easy. Also, you do not set up the Cisco as you would other AP's. The fist thing you do is find the SSID for CiscoAirConnect and connect to it. Once connected you can go to the default IP address and do the initial setup. It is very quick. When it asks for the management IP address, keep in mind this is the IP address to the controller portion. The actual AP doesn't have a brain hence it is controlled by the Mobility Express Controller. But, the AP does have its own IP address on the network. It was really very easy to set up, I just had to figure out the method Cisco uses. Another thing I will mention is that Cisco is very difficult to deal with. They offer no customer service on their enterprise products. You have to purchase a service plan from a Cisco partner. But again, I'm not rating Cisco or the slightly different way to set up this AP. The AP itself is great and does a very good job. The Mobility Express software does not seem to work with Chrome so I had to use Firefox. When you first plug in or reboot the AP, it takes a while to see the SSID's and be able to log in to Mobility Express so be patient. Once you add power or reboot it takes around 3 minutes. The first thing the AP does is look for an external controller. When it doesn't find one, it defaults to Mobility Express and the light will flash green, red, yellow a few times, then flash green a few times and then go to solid green. At that point you should be able to connect. One last thing is that I bought the AP that I'm writing the review about but I had to return it because this one does not have the Mobility Express on it. The units ending in K9 are made to work with a hardware controller. The K9C is the model with Mobility Express built in. I'm giving this overview because it was very difficult to find detailed help online and thought I'd point people in the right direction.UPDATE: The only issues I've had with this device is it can be temperamental depending on the browser. I originally stated that I had problems when using Chrome and Firefox worked. I have since discovered that Chrome works better than Firefox. I ran into some issues with Firefox, including when I tried to change the IP address of the controller. Firefox creates a certificate and seems to want to bind the controller to the original IP address. I did a factory reset so I could change the IP address and that's when I discovered the issue with the certificate. I ended up trying Chrome again and it works perfectly. I wanted to add that this device has many powerful features. You can see all of the clients that are connected, how much bandwidth they are using, which SSID they are logged into. You can also see the AP performance statistics such as power being transmitted to each client, other access points in the area and the channel on which they are broadcasting, and more. I am very pleased.
