You can't actually set a new combination without a huge gap between bolt and latch after you've changed it. Very very unhappy that there suddenly seem to be no other reviews. Do yourself a favour and Chuck the money you would have spent on this in the bin

Muy mal producto. Lo instalamos en las puertas de un closet y se abren con el candado cerrado. No sirve

I bought this to use on a wooden gate that we go through multiple times per day. I needed something that locked as we have a pool in the yard, but wanted something without a key. We have several family members that go through this gate everyday as it leads to the main entrance of the house. This was the perfect solution. No key needed, so it makes for easy access for everyone, but is able to lock when needed. The quality is really good. This is a pretty heavy duty lock with a thick barrel and slides easily back and forth. Feels very solid. I am hoping this holds up well overtime in our Canadian winters!

I bought the lock to lock up our liquor cabinet now that we have teenagers. I did not want a key lock, as we would either get lazy and leave key accessible, lose it, or the kids would find it anyway. Combo lock is much better. This lock is well made, quite large, works great. Easy to install - just install with two way screws first, and then substitute the one way screws once you've got it in place. (Switch out the screws one at a time, replacing a two way screw with a one way screw, until all six are replaced.)Three things to note. First, the prior reviews that cite the easy ability to accidentally reset the combination as a defect are no longer valid. The company fixed this issue. There is now no way to accidentally trigger the reset function.Second, the lock only works to secure a moving part (e.g. a door) that is being latched to a fixed part (e.g., a frame or a gate post). I learned this the hard way, as I bought the lock to lock a liquor cabinet that has two doors that meet in the center and swing out, and I tried to attach the bolt side of the lock to one of the doors and the other side to the other door. Although everything was lined up properly, the lock would not hold when we opened the two doors - the lateral movement of the doors swinging would cause the lock bolt to slide out of the other side of the lock. This was easily remedied, however, by installing a simple slide bolt (available from any hardware store for $3) on the inside of one of the cabinet doors, which affixes the cabinet door to the cabinet frame. By doing this, I made one of the cabinet doors "fixed", and the other movable, and the combination lock works perfectly. It adds an extra step to the opening and closing process (you have to open the combination lock, open one of the doors and then reach inside to undo the slide bolt before you can open the second door; vice versa closing it up), but it's nothing.Third, the lock looks great in terms of its design and the chrome, but it is big. It's a little "much" for using on a liquor cabinet, but for us that's fine. For outdoor use, etc., it would be great.

I don't suggest using the one-way screws unless you're certain you've got it positioned correctly and won't need to ever remove this. Otherwise, you'd likely need to cut it out of whatever you're attaching it too or drill out the screw heads. It defeats the purpose a bit if you just use regular screws though, so you could use carriage bolts or some other screw with specialty heads. It would be easy to just pry this off with a pry bar though, so don't fool yourself that this will really protect anything if someone wants in. It's like most locks -- they're for honest people.Other than the security issue, these work well. Easy to set and reset combination. The latch is reasonably smooth (not silky smooth, but good enough). The finish seems fine, but we'll see how it stands up over time. I got these primarily for convenience of not needing a key.The only thing I would have liked is a longer bolt throw. You have to place the receiver pretty close , but too close might rub or be a problem if the door expands or sags over time. A longer bolt throw wouldn't have as much of a problem.
