This bird feeder is a big step up from the plastic tube-shaped ones that I have in my garden. This one is not only functional; it's very pretty! I ordered the Dragonfly pattern, and its shiny copper material shows up very well against the darker seed that I've filled it with. The feeder hangs easily from a shepherd's-crook stand that I already have in the yard. It's light in weight, but heavy enough when filled with seeds that it won't swing with every breath of wind. I love the little trough around the edge where the birds can gather while feeding. The top lifts off easily so you can refill it right there on the spot. The birds love this feeder! (I can't guarantee that it's squirrel-proof, because I suspect they're just biding their time, drawing up plans, etc.) Honestly this is a great value for the price, and it's given me a different perspective -- I'm now wanting other feeders that are beautiful as well as utilitarian. After all, gardens are beautiful and so are birds -- why would I want a banged-up plastic feeder in there, when I could have one of these artistic copper ones? I'm on a mission to buy more and make the bird-area as beautiful as possible!

This is such a beautiful bird feeder, but it DOES NOT keep our squirrels out, unfortunately. High quality materials are used in this feeder. It is light weight. It's worth giving it a try. Maybe our squirrels are smarter than yours. =)
