Spent $100 to get this item programed to work with my 2016 Explorer. Two different employees tried to program it and failed. I ended up using it for parts to repair my original fob. Do not purchase this item unless you need parts.

The remote works perfectly for about two weeks and then the battery is dead. Something is causing batteries to use up, in less than two weeks. Was easy to program and worked great. I have changed the battery 3 times in less than two months. Annoying.

Impossible to program yourself, so that was disappointing. However, I took it and the car with an original key to a locksmith and they were able to program it easily with their software. Cost an additional $125 for the locksmith to program. So, for $155, I now have an additional mechanical key vs. the cost to order a new key from Ford, which would have been $199.95 plus tax, and another $105 plus tax to program it. So, it cost me only about half of what it would have cost to go through Ford. I just had it programmed today, so I cannot comment on long-term durability.
