I love how low profile and non bulky this is compared to other retractable leashes. I would use this only on dogs that don’t pull since there’s no real handle to control a pulling dog (unless you grip the entire reel). My pup is a chill 12lb and I feel like it’s perfect and will be able to withstand if he decides to jerk really hard. I took one star off since the picture shows a ribbon/strap of some sort of for your wrist and mine came with a one inch zipper pull. I took it off, attached a carabiner and clipped it to my belt loop…now I walk my dog hands free!

I have a 17 lb dog and I used a super long leash to give he a bit of freedon on our walks. Constantly rolling it up and out, getting it tangled on my feet, tangled on other leashes when he met another dog. I tried another product that had a handle, etc. but I am a small person and it was too large for my hands, heavy and uncomfortable. This handy dandy Retractable Dog Leash is the answer to my problems. It has a loop that fits on your wrist and the main part fits in the palm of my hand. It's the best device ever!!! If I need to unhook my dog it fits in my pocket. What could be nicer - REALLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

It's small and loops around the wrist, which is convenient. The thin leash is plenty for a 9 pound dog, but they can chew through it easily, so be careful. The locking and retracting mechanisms are weak but work fine enough. For a cheap and small leash, I can't complain much. Although I imagine it won't last for years.

I have an 8 pound morkie, so I don’t think he’s really working this leash that hard, but after a day or so I can hear that the mechanism inside that spools the leash back in is starting to have trouble working and the leash doesn’t come back in as fast. Oh and he snapped the cheap nylon handle off it also so really just an all around failure:/

I bought this to replace a regular reel, which I thought had broken. Looking at its small and easily managed format, and not needing more than six feet for my 18 pound shih-tzu mix anyway, I decided to use it instead. Last summer he frequently ran ahead of my electric trike, and developed some bad habits. Well, lo and behold, he ran towards a dogs' house, and broke the cord. He is behaving much better, but not enough better. The wrist strap is still OK, and I have replaced the cord with a zip-tie. If that doesn't work, I have some more nylon cord, and picture-wire is next on the list. He is a strong dog, vet thinks part terrier, but probably not Yorkie. LOL!Later-- he broke the wrist strap! I have replaced both with a heavier nylon cord. I don't use it as designed. Due to disability, I wear it attached to a belt.
